And if power is a concern, it shouldn't be. The hybrid in the 7ES has pretty good authority when it accelerates. Very usable nice power that gets out of its own way very easily. I'd say it's only lacking at higher speeds but even then not at all inadequate. The electric motor gets the car moving from a stand still.
I’m not really a big fan of cvt either hybrid cars,, I’m just looking for naturally aspirated reliable engine ,, seems like the 2GR-FE has common problem as well !!!! Any recommendations on the 16 es that was build in Japan ? Any improvement over the ones built in USA since 2017 and up ??

ESh is as reliable if not more. Don’t see objectively what the problem is.

I’m leaning towards 2020/2021 Toyota Camry v6 xle or xse it’s probably same as Lexus but the only different price tag quality wise I do see Camry step up the game and did a lot of improvement! 👍🏼

Fortunately, there's no CVT in our hybrids.

seems to be a large run on sentence. are you comparing Camry V6 to 6ES or 7ES?

first off tnga>older stuff

second, cores of camry/avalon vs 7es are similar sure, but the finishing items are different. those are perception items.

It seems like you've never actually driven an Toyota/Lexus hybrid eCVT??? It's nothing like CVTs. You couldn't pay me to drive a regular gas car with a multiple speed transmission, such rubbish and jerky driving...

I prefer multiple gear trannies over a CVT and the one in my 2013 ES was a smooth as a baby's a$$. No jerky movements there and shift changes were almost imperceptible.
Not rubbish by a long shot.

The hybrid vs ICE discussion is getting boring. Let's just accept the fact that some prefer one and some prefer the other. Calling it rubbish is a bit extreme even for me who admits the 8 speed is annoying and jerky.

I think some of y’all need to go in and ask them to reprogram your transmission in your ES. My 2022 ES 350 F sport has the eight speed transmission and it’s silky Smooth with no harsh jerking on deceleration or acceleration. I’ve seen people with 2019 or 2020 models complain about this and I’m almost sure they have done some re-programming on the 2022 and later ES. I know the transmission is the same in my car as earlier cars so the only difference could be the program.

could be - for me, going back to the dealer with something like that would be more annoying than the actual symptoms themselves 😁 I drive mainly highway miles so after four years of ownership, I almost don't notice it any longer.

I plan on questioning the SM at my dealer to see if this could be true and reprogramming did occur.

Yes, I do.
It can be very severe at times.
Dealer tried many, many times cannot.
Lexus does not offer any software upgrade.

I drove a 2022 ES350 F-Sport back to back with my 2020 ES350 Premium and it was night and day. It is not a characteristic of the car, there are definitely either model years or batches that have some sort of issue with the transmission (whether it be mechanical or software). I used the same driving style, I did the same tests and up and down shifts, and the 2022 ES350 F Sport loaner was a distinct joy to drive. On the other hand, I am beginning to hate driving my ES350.

See my experience here.

Myself and a lot of others that bought new gen 7 cars experienced this problem immediately. I came from a gen 6 ES and the difference was night and day. I complained like you did and received the same BS excuses. After four years - mine is a 2019 - I just put up with the lousy transmission. Thankfully I don't drive as much as many other members do on the forum.
I have to say that I didn't expect this problem with Lexus and certainly not with the car itself. Other than the tranny the car is a gem.

I think that is the worst part, as I quite agree with you. This car drives beautifully but for the transmission. I have driven other Lexus models in the past and never had complaints.

To be honest, I even like the touchpad over the touch screen that the 2022 model had for infotainment!

Too bad - I hope Lexus listens and releases a software patch to cure an otherwise wonderful car. I'm just not certain if it would remove the bad taste in my mouth from the dealer and Lexus Canada interactions.

Oh well.
