Bluetooth is waaaaaaaay clearer than wifi? When did this happen? Wifi can transit lossless audio, BT can't come close to that.

What’s best—Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth?

The choice is quite clear when it comes to Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.

If you want the best quality, choose Wi-Fi.

If you want cheap and easy, choose Bluetooth.

Simply put, the big differentiator is that Bluetooth is not capable of delivering the same level of quality as Wi-Fi.
Bandwidth BT ( 800 Kbps ) wifi (11 Mbps )
Bit-rate 2.1Mbps vs 600 Mbps

These modules use WiFi and not BT

Has anyone tried the Carplay2air with a 22 model? Just picked up a 2022 ES350 and didn't realize Lexus does not have wireless car play. I asked the folks at Cplay2air if it is compatible with the 22 models and they said they are still going through testing and gave no indication of when an answer would be forthcoming.

I have a 2021 IS300 and I can't get it to detect CPLAY2air dongle. I tried contacting them but have not heard anything back yet. Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks

Get carlink 3.0 on Amazon it’s 120 and has a 30 dollar coupon right now. Originally bought it for my Camry now on my 2022 ES and works flawlessly

Added Carlink 3.0 tonight, getting my ribbon cable Saturday. Thanks to this thread for great info. This will fix my number 1 issue with this car.

Hi guys, I’m a noob on this thread. Read about audio/music quality issues with Carlinkit. Are they resolved in 3.0 version? What about the 3.0 mini version? i.e. can I listen to my music from iPhone and not get annoyed? Those Mark Levinson speakers deserve clean audio stream.

Please bare with me on this; what I have surmised as it pertains to new 2022 ES owners is as follows: The better sounding WI-FI connection (Carplay2air) will not work. The “OK” sounding Bluetooth connection Carlink 3.0 will work. If this is correct, could someone put the necessary links (preferably to Amazon) so I can purchase everything needed to make this work in the most aesthetically pleasing way possible. It’s not that I can’t technically figure these things out but I don’t want o reinvent the wheel if someone has spent allot of time figuring this out. Keep in mind, I have no desire to make any modifications to the car itself, panel removal, lids, hinges, etc..

Whoever provides this information in an idiot proof format will have my greatest “Thanks” and appreciation.

I had Carlink 3 for a week and it worked well. But yesterday it never turned on after updating firmware so returned it. Ordered Ottocast U2-Air waiting for it to arrive. FYI they all use wifi for connection. Bluetooth is only used for initial pairing and exchanging wifi connection details.
