I'm really loving the Apple Car Play wire relocation. Got my fast charger in the center console too--charges Lightning (heh heh) fast.
If I come across a spare "USB box" i'll buy one and install it in place of the carpet blank I installed. will take me 10 min or less. Installing this wire required COMPLETE removal of the entire console which actually was not that hard.

Basically the console has two halves. upper and lower. you need to remove the gear shift ****, knee pads, radio trim piece, rear ac control panel. then it reveals bolts that hold down the console.
then you need to relocate the stock USB box or source a replacement second box.
it's a bit of a chore, really unless you have DIY experience.
at your own risk!
also 21 models (possibly 20 too) got a different USB door. you can't remove it like you can on the earlier models. so the flat cable thing may not work without removing the door which requires removing the console. so if you're doing that any way... just a thought.

To conceal it you'd need a spare box (extra $80 or so online if you can find one) or relocate your old box which means you'll have a blank hole. It's kind of a customized job. I covered my spot with a piece of carpet

I can tell you conceptually how to do it. It may be "not that hard" for me cause I have extensive DIY experience but I wouldn't want you ruining your car if I give you specific instructions.

I eventually found a custom cable made by an enthusiast in China with a thin ribbon and practically no depth. The cable is shaped and routed specifically for ES to be perfectly flat and preserve the other USB port. You can close both inner and outer lids in that setup. It costs around $10 on Taobao (cheaper on multi-pack) but there is no sales channel in the US. You have to find a friend or package forwarding company to get it :(

It needs that old USB connector with ribbon cable off to the right, and then USB-C to the right, to work with my CarPlay adapter (Carlinkit)

^Again if you have a 20/21 the little hinged cover lid on the USB port does NOT come off, thus buying such a cable will be pointless. To remove that lid on the 20/21, you'll have to either A) remove the entire console and basically perform surgery on the lid or B) destructively break it off.
The lid is on a hinge that's held down by a little screw on the underside

which one?
I've read a bit about carlinkit (and a few other products) but from what I cant find, carlinkit is the 'parent' of carplay2air, and is generally recommended. Has anyone purchased a carlinkit (https://carlinkitcarplay.com/product...actory-carplay) and had success with the 2021 ES Hybrid Product reviews are very hit and miss depending on software/firmware and vehicle.
