Trunk Lid Doesn't Release from Remote
Since we owned a 2015 ESh for about 4 & 1/2 years, I still follow discussions over in that subforum. There was an interesting discussion about the trunk lid, specifically how far it would raise when the remote button was pressed. It was pointed out that the spoiler on those vehicles equipped with one have more weight and consequently the trunk lid just barely bumps up when the button (on the trunk or the remote) is pressed, rather than springing completely open. A helpful post (#7) was provided by mcomer regarding the ability to adjust the trunk spring tension, which is why I am sharing the link below on the assumption that it will be the same for the 7th gen cars.

With that said, the trunk lid on our 2019 ESh doesn't even respond when I press the "Hold" button on our remote control. I verified the position of the button in the glove box (tried it both ways just to make sure) but still no luck. Anyone have any ideas beyond a visit to the dealership? It's not a huge deal for me or my wife as we usually just walk up to the trunk and press the button anyway (with the key in a pocket or gym bag of course).

For purposes of this thread and assuming that the power trunk opener is still an option with the 2019 and 2020 ES, it might be useful if those who posted stated whether they have the power trunk opener or not.

Check the list of personalized settings. There may be a setting for how trunk lock responds to remote. Some models have this setting option.

There's a dealer settable setting on opening the trunk. See item 26 in the Lexus Personalized Settings pdf for the 2019 Lexus ES 300h. There's one option to turn off electronic key operation.

That's exactly what I'm talking about. It may be set to off.

Oh, and for the record, it also pops all the way open, although at a leisurely pace so “pops” may not be the most accurate phrase here. The point is opens all the way in about 4 seconds.

See post #7 in this thread. I haven't tried it yet, but will likely try and get to that today.

That seems really odd. Is there any chance you have to hold it for a few seconds to close it? I only ask because our NX requires you hold it for several seconds and then there is a beep and the car lights flash before the rear hatch closes. I suppose this is for safety reasons? Anyway, it just seems odd/disappointing that the power trunk is only “powered” in one direction.
