Take it in to the service department. It could be a strut bearing or lower suspension pot hole damage.

Do you have AVS?

Mine was making a rattling sound in the front. I took it in and the strut was defective (strut was blown).

Have the same “clunking” noise on mine, odometer at 700km.
No AVS on mine.
Happening on both front and rear whenever going thru speed humps.

Dealer is saying that this is a “normal operation noise” for the absorber. Also tested the dealer’s demo unit for comparison and the same “clunk” noise can also be heard.

This is definitely abnormal to me, such noise never occurred on previous my Camry nor Corolla.
According to the service technician Lexus will not do anything unless they receive more complains/feedback from owners..damn.

Very possible a strut is bad.

Many thanks for the reply.
Q: Is it possible for a strut to go bad at 700km (odometer)?
It’s essentially a brand new car
I’m astounded that Lexus engineers are stating this as a “normal operation noise” on the absorber.

Oh sure, the strut was probably always bad. Stuff like that certainly isn't common, but it happens.

"Its normal" is normal MO for Lexus dealers.

Thanks for sharing @SW17LS

Btw any fellow owners facing similar issues care to share your experiences as well?

Cheers

I haven't had that issue with a Lexus, but I did with my Pacifica. It was a bad strut.

Hello, sorry to bump an old thread but just got my ES with AVS. I started noticing a clunk/adjustment noise from the front while stopped, not when going over bumps. Anyone experience something like this or just the bump part? Thanks

My 2019 es350 with AVS is clunky and rides fairly rough. Especially when test driving at 2020 es350 without AVS.

I bought the model sans AVS intentionally - why didn't you after the test drive?
