I believe that the Generation 10 navigation system in the 2019 and 2020 ES uses "live maps" where the source of the map information is in the cloud, and the map data is continuously updated with new data from the cloud. When the information is sent from the cloud to the car, I assume that it is stored in the car on an SD card, but I'm not certain of that.
As an aside, with the trend in the auto industry to subscription-based services, I expect that, at some point in the future, Lexus will be requiring a paid subscription to be able use the "live maps" feature.

I don't see any reason for the 2019/2020 ES to have any kind of removable hardware for map data. There's probably RAM or some other type of nonremovable memory built into the system.
