2020 ES has anyone tried folding back the windshield wiper to clean the window?

See page 159 of the manual to move the wipers into service position.

This was one of the first things that I noticed when I bought my 2019. On the previous gen - 6 - you could simply raise the wipers to the winter position and pull them forward to clean the windshield. Not on the gen 7 cars. You must push up the wiper stalk as if you're doing a one wipe within 55 seconds of turning the car off. Problem is, the windshield is usually dry and you can score the glass. Ask me, I did... After you push up the stalk and the wipers run over your dry windshield to the up position, you can then pull them out to clean the glass. This, IMO is one of the stupidest features that Lexus has included on the gen 7 cars. Otherwise you must first wet the windscreen with the washers, turn off the car, then push the stalk up within 55 seconds.

When I complained on the forum most of the other members thought I was a crybaby (LOL) and that it was very minor. It's not minor to me and I think it's very poor engineering and just stupid by Lexus....

Same on our 17 RX. Perhaps its an effort to keep them less visible when not in use. Remember back in the day when GM introduced "hidden wipers"?

But on my 2013 you could set the wipers below the hood line i.e. less visible, or above as desired. Above in the winter and below in the summer just by pushing up or down on the knuckle.

Anyway, this race was already run and it is what it is...

Are you saying that you followed the instructions properly and it scored your windshield? If so, wouldn't that be covered under warranty?

Here's a tip - try cleaning the blades with alcohol every month or so and watch how long they will last. I'm still on my original ES blades after purchasing the car in Dec-18 and they're still perfect.

Which brand works best , or are you referring to plain old rubbing alcohol?

Mine only lasted about 4 months before they started to leave streaks. I cleaned them with alcohol thinking it was just probably due to debris and no luck. I decided to upgrade to Rain X AdvantEdge and so far they are holding up.

Are those a direct fit for the ES? I presume I'll eventually have to replace mine. I've used Trico replacements before with success.

This guy recommends silicon-based blades. He says they last much longer, but you should still clean them regularly with denatured alcohol..

Yes, only took about 5 minutes to swap the pair.

I've used Premium Rain-X on my 2013 and now on the 2019. Very good blades and fit perfectly. Takes 10 minutes to change both sides. They have blades for summer and winter. Sell for about $10.00 each at Walmart...

Did you really scratch your windshield? Did/will Lexus fix it for you under warranty?
