Default 2020 ES 350 Backup camera blurry / Out of Focus!

Hey guys,
Just pick up the ES f-sport for over a week and noticed the backup camera isn't that focus. Does anyone have a problem with yours 19 or 20 model? (please see pics)

It's not a very high resolution camera.

I also noticed that the rear camera view on my 2019 ES is fuzzy. Looks like it's out of focus.

I had a 2020 ES loaner for a few days and noticed a huge difference. The rear camera view was much sharper. The difference in clarity between the backup camera on my 2019 ES and the 2020 ES loaner I drove is very noticeable. I'll mention it next time I'm in for service, which I don't expect for a while. If they give me the "operating as expected" line, which I expect, I'll ask them to compare it to other some other ESs, preferably 2020s.

I can't see the 2020 camera be any different than the 2019's. I know in the GS there is hidden settings for the backup camera to adjust the focus, I just don't remember how to get there. alse make sure your camera is clean mine is much clearer then what your showing

I was under the impression that the purpose of the camera is to allow you to see what's back there, not read the package contents?

When I first saw the photos, I didn't think mine looked as grainy, but it turns out they are probably about the same. I have a Feb 2019 ES hybrid built at the Japan factory. Here are a couple of photos and you cannot read the lettering on mine either - despite the two inch tall lettering on the package used. Of course, everything is a mirror image so it wouldn't actually be legible anyway...

I agree. That's why I didn't bother to mention it when I returned the loaner to pick up my car. I was focused on more important items.

Nonetheless, I was surprised when the backup view on my 2020 ES loaner was significantly clearer than on my car. That demonstrated to me that a clearer backup view is achievable.

I have a 2020 hybrid built in USA and mine looks exactly like that. The camera is definite a very low quality camera, much worse than the 2018 Subaru I traded in, and even worse than a rental Hyundai Elantra...but it does the job i guess

How often do you try to read lettering on boxes when backing up?

That's not the point, IMO. The blurry vision gives you a less confident feeling in what you're looking at. I'm already somewhat tentative about backing up my car without turning around and looking out the rear window.

When I had the 2020 ES loaner, the much clearer view felt much better to me. More confidence backing up. Unfortunately, from the feedback in this group it seems like it's not a model year issue as I originally had thought. I wonder why that loaner was so much clearer?

I don't think you get it. The purpose is not about able to reading the texts. I'm just letting the group knows that the backup camera is so blurry and it's not clear at all. I am just letting them know how terrible the camera is, trust me i thought my 2016 Acura backup camera was bad, the screen is low resolution and backup camera isn't that focus. But compare to the lexus backup camera I think my Acura image is way better, at least it's clean line and some what focus.

I expect quality of Lexus to be better than other vehicles because of their quality and luxury.

Thanks DavidZ.
You understand my point of view.
