Yes this is certainly what I would do as well and for the same reasons as stated by sderman. Yes you will lose some settings and the entertainment system programming but that will happen anyway if the battery discharges. There is a constant drain on the battery by the car's electronics when its connected and disconnecting it may also serve to deter any simple thefts of opportunity.

You could just take the battery out and throw it on a charger at home or just leave the terminals unhooked, that usually will be fine in summer.

Default Battery dies in 7 or 8 days

(2011 LS460, 27K) Because of lockdown I am able to drive it only every 7 days, sometimes 8, when I take it for 20-30 freeway miles @ 70mph. The last two times, it wouldn't start after a week of non-use. AAA said the battery was weak and jumped it. Dealer said my alternator, charging system are OK. I replaced the battery about a month ago. There is no electrical outlet in the garage to which I could connect a charger. The lights, radio, are off when I leave the car, the only visible "on" thing is the security lights on the doors. Suggestions are welcome as to the cause and/or solution.

Even if you have a lithium battery jumper (which I always keep around) or use roadside service to give you a jump, your battery will have suffered and it's life span compromised. This would also give you piece of mind. But if you go this route I assume you will need to use a physical key to unlock the drivers door when you return.
I just thought of another downside if you disconnect the battery: The alarm will not work. Would be nice if you could keep powered just a few circuits including the alarm. Lexus can call it a vacation setting.
