Slot On Top Of Door?
There is a slot in the front doors at the top near the side view mirrors that looks like it is an air vent but in the 16 months I've had the car it's never had any air flow.
What is it? Either it's an air vent and mine just doesn't work or it's something else.

Its the defroster vent for the side windows. Put the system on full front defrost and turn the fan up, you'll feel it.

Look at the door and end of the dashboard when either front door is open.
Defrost air is ducted to and through those ports and up to your door top slot.
Have you found the electrically heated grids under the wiper blades yet?
