Default Android Auto Update For 2019 ES

I own a 2019 ES and I'm trying to get Lexus to provide the update for Android Auto. Any 2019 ES that has Apple CarPlay can technically run Android Auto. It is a simple software update. In other countries Lexus actually is providing an update for Android Auto on the 2019 ES.

Lexus Of Spain is offering it as a free update.

https://www.lexusauto.es/ownership/apple-carplay-android-auto

Lexus Of Australia is offering it as a $250 service.

https://www.lexus.com.au/apple-carplay-and-android-auto/about

This is nothing more than a business decision by Lexus USA

I think if enough people complain that Lexus USA isn't offering a simple software update maybe something will happen.

I can't be the only one upset about this.

Other members of the forum have called and complained and some have written letters to Lexus. The last thing posted was that "this is not an option at this time". Yada, yada, yada.
For whatever reason Lexus refuses to provide the software update in North America to install this. I read online that it takes an hour and is free in Espana. I have a friend in Australia seeing if it can be put on a flash drive and sent here. I'm quite sure that there are numerous owners that would like to have this but with Lexus you might as well **** in the ocean...

Yeah. It's ridiculous that I paid $50,000 for a car and the only thing standing in the way of getting Android Auto is Lexus not offering a simple software update in the United States.

Your friend in Australia maybe being able to send it over on a flash drive seems interesting. If you can update this thread with any update on that it would be very much appreciated.

You could just email it, or if the file is too big to email, upload it to a file transfer site such as Dropbox, Google Drive, etc.

According to my mate, things are still locked down over there from state to state and he can't maneuver right now. Have to wait until things loosen up and he can work some magic...

I feel the same way as it should be available. As I see that Lexus does not want to give it as it seems it will cost them more $$.

I'd be willing to pay a small fee. Lexus Of Spain is doing it for free but Australia is doing it for $250 which is about $180 USD. I'd pay that.

Looks like updates to the Corolla system have leaked...

Hopefully, this bodes well for us 2019 owners that have been left behind... Feel free to continue penning disgruntled letters to Lexus corporate in Plano, TX.

So, then all models will have the update except the ES line? If correct, then I would think that it may be offered in October. Have to wait and see. Thanks for the info AY...

Arent those all non USA based models / threads? I havent seen any evidence that LEXUS USA has provided updates for 2019 or earlier of ANY Lexus model.

Lexus USA ISN'T updating the 2019 models but they COULD. At least with any of the 2019s manufactured after October 2018. If a 2019 ES has Apple CarPlay it can support Android Auto. Other countries such as Spain, Australia and I think Canada are updating 2019 ES cars. Lexus USA could release a software update. They are CHOOSING not to.

Yes, they're all foreign market updates, but I think everyone who has followed the saga of the 2019 ES and Android Auto expected the foreign markets to get the updates first. My post was more to show that some foreign markets ACTUALLY appear to be getting their update. There were articles about Spain and Australia rolling out updates as far back as late fall 2019 with no real movement.
