Default ES 3-5 year depreciation

From what I can gather via research (Edmunds TCO KBB residuals Lease Cap Cost ratios, etc) it seems ES holds its value pretty decently?) Well, as best a depreciating asset can - lol)

assuming bought at less than invoice (say 12-15% under msrp)and depending on model/trim appears an ES F-Sport will depreciate
5-6k Year 1,
then Year 2 more like 3600-4K depreciation
Year 3 more like 3K and
Years 4 and 5 more like 2500/year -

So like $13K depreciation in first 3 years, and around $19K over first 5 years - Sound right?

I bought a 2013 Lux edition in late 2012 for approximately $44,000.00. In December 2018 I sold it for $22,000.00 and bought a 2019 UL. Six year depreciation of 50%... the car was a 10/10 condition with very low mileage...

boy - only validates the depreciating “asset” status of vehicles doesn’t it - that sounds like someone got a great car for a GREAT price $22k low mi 6 yrs for a reliable lux sedan ? Wow...folks with ANY Debt even if $1.00 that don’t pay off credit card every month, buy cash only, etc - should learn a lesson from this example -

your story validates that one can get a terrific lux sedan lightly used for under $25k !!!

Unfortunately, this validates that cars aren't good places to put money in.

I had a '14 TL and I got a great deal OTD at around $37K. In 5 years later and with 93K miles, I was only about to trade for $11,200. Now maybe if I kept it even with some repairs and major service, I would have saved by not purchasing another car.

J D Power ranks Lexus with the lowest depreciation. Toyota was second. The two highest were Mini and Fiat.

I think everyone knows that depreciating hunks of metal and electronics are not investments. But we love cars
