I put mud guards on my 2013 and also my 2019. The guards on my 2019 will also fit the 2020. Here are photos

I've had my eBay ones on since June 2019. I think a valet cracked one by backing the car up all the way to the curb, other than that they've been great. I don't even notice them against the black car. I did think they were larger than ones I've had on past vehicles though. Suprised Lexus doesn't sock a OEM guard.

When I asked the dealer about mud guards, his response was "mud guards on a Lexus"??? My ES in any event doesn't seem to kick up much dirt behind the wheels.

HA! I had a very similar response when I asked why doesn't Lexus have mud guards? This was for my 2013... The SM stated "we don't put mud guards on a Lexus"... Hmm, I did...
I do think that it protects your paint and I'm happy that I have them... A very easy install...
In the past, mud flaps contributed to premature rusting, both at the drilled holes (if applicable) but more significantly, under the portion of the sheet metal the flap covers. Dirt, salt, and road grime is trapped there and does cause early paint failure.
One recommendation for drilled flaps is to apply a significant amount of touchup paint around the holes before screwing the flap down. This might reduce the possibility of rust forming on raw metal.

No rust concerns with the Lexus ES. The rear quarter panel is plastic...
Coming over from the Dark Side (GM) I noticed that very few Lexi have Body Side Moldings.
Went out and looked at the oldest high mile trade-ins and was surprised to see that there were
very few door dings or any paint scrapes on any of them. As with the Mud Flaps the BSMs
are an Accessory but don't get requested very often, at least not in our suburban market.
I ordered the BSM on my 2019 just because I like the look. When I park it's away from everyone else and at the end of the lot. No cars near mine. The best way to avoid body damage which is very expensive with body panels repainted that don't perfectly match... I also like the appearance of the mud guards. Useful with the rotten winters we have in the NE. Where you live as well... As far as the other owners with older cars and no door dings, my guess is that they're careful where they park to avoid some moron carelessly dinging their door. All a matter of taste.
This is why they make chocolate and vanilla...
