Audio system law firm call
I just received a voicemail message here in Pennsylvania from a law firm regarding my 2019 Lexus ES 350. Apparently there is a lawsuit against Lexus involving the audio system..
I have the ML audio. Anyone else get a call?

MARK LEVINSON audio system. She was also looking for people to appear as witnesses or representatives to voice their specific complaints and disappointment in a deposition with the premium audio system MARK LEVINSON. She also stated that the complaints of "non performance" go back several years and that Toyota was aware of the complaints and did nothing.
She stated that a lawsuit would not proceed if Toyota acknowledged the fault and either rectified the system or compensated owners who purchased the ML system.
Now, fellow members, this is just a recap of my conversation so don't shoot the messenger. Just passing along the status for those that have an interest in this issue...

I am sure the thought process is that they don’t include the base system since it would be easier to win a case considering that the ML System is the premium system. Since there has been complaints and it being a premium system they probably think they have a chance to win the case. My only thing is when you buy a car you should check everything out if you’re not happy with the way it sounds then you just don’t buy the car, if it’s a dealbreaker.

Exactly right. These tort claims only work if they get enough volume to file a class action suit. The victims are rarely the winners as the settlement is usually just a token amount per claim - especially after the law firms have taken their percentage.

When I was looking at the ES last year, the base radio problem and law suit was common knowledge (lots of car sites) and was the main reason I decided against buying an ES. The ML was supposedly OK, but I didn't want to be forced to spend an extra $900 for a radio that Lexus was refusing to correct. My understanding is that Lexus has finally corrected the base radio problem and retrofitting new systems on the 2019 and 2020 vehicles affected. A problem with the ML system is news to me and think maybe the legal firm is confused.

I have no idea what it's about, only what the paralegal told me. I'm not involved and I don't know how they even got my phone number. I do participate in the Lexus surveys so maybe that's where they got it. However she did say specifically that it was the ML system that was the subject of the suit. PeterA and Technut are correct in that only the attorneys make out in these cases. Honestly, at this point I couldn't care less about the audio only that the car runs well and no issues... The car will be 2 years old in December and has 5100 miles...
