Default Uneven Tire Wear?

My first post.....I just replaced four tires on my 2019 ES300h at 30k miles; the inside of each of the tires was scrubbed off down almost to the cords. Had the car realigned and all should be well....but this seems unusual for such low mileage. Note that I was still not close to the wear bars on the rest of the tread....and all four tires wore in the same pattern though I do not believe they were ever rotated to the opposite side. If needed, I can post pics of the tires and a pic of the alignment (before and after) report.

Wheels likely out of alignment for many miles. Im at 27k on my FSport and no signs of uneven wear.

They should have caught this at every 5000 mile Tire rotation services and re-aligned the wheels.

When you bought your new tires, did they come with free lifetime rotation? My tire shop offers this, but I find it easier to do myself than go to the shop, wait in line, and wait for the shop to do it. Cross-rotating is generally recommended for most vehicles/tires (not all). There should be a diagram in your Owners Manual that depicts the procedure.

The list time i bought tires i was told that Tire manufacturers don't recommend cross-rotating anymore. The theory is that the wires inside the tires take the memory to bend in one direction and that should not be changed. It might cause the wires inside the tires to crank. Front to back and vise versa on the same side only.

Precisely what the manual says. No cross rotating.

Sorry Mike, I beg to differ, and as a retired Michelin tire design engineer, I know for a fact that today’s radial tires have no issue with cross-rotation. Here is information from the Michelin user manual:

For a specific Lexus reference, see the diagram on page 318 in the "Tire rotation" section of the 2019 Lexus ES350 Owner's Manual:

I guess I don't understand cross rotation. I thought that meant moving RF to LR etc.?? This diagram says NOT to do that - correct?

You have correctly understood what cross rotation means which is as you wrote "moving RF to LR etc."

Correct - the diagram shows the Lexus approved "proper" tire rotation is to rotate the tires between front and back keeping the tires on the same side of the vehicle. Cross rotation is NOT a Lexus approved method of tire rotation.

P.S. The intent of my posting was to backup what you were posting about Lexus's trie rotation recommendation with a documentation excerpt from the Owner's Manual so that other readers could easily see for themselves what Lexus's position was. Sorry if I created some misunderstanding with my posting.

Got it - thank you for clarifying. I'm no tire expert but I certainly have above average reading skills

Dizzy, I'm so dizzy my head is spinning. I'm not bothering with rotation on a FWD car. Just plan to replace the front two when they are beat and eventually the rear two later on. It just doesn't pay enough dividends in treadlife IMO to do it every 5K or even 10K miles..
