I recently took delivery of a '21 F-Sport and noticed a clear bag with two plastic pieces in the trunk.
Not knowing what it was, I Googled the part number that I could see. It turns out to be air deflectors that are supposed to be installed in front of the front tires.
I installed them using the screws that were already there. Must be an aerodynamics/noise thing.
I guess the dealer was supposed to install them but didn't. I'm posting this in case others find the same unknown items or have lazy dealers that didn't install them at all.
Interesting. Normally I heard it is only a dealer installed option if it is some add-on that generates money for them. This isn't something in the same bucket unless this was a charge item on your window sticker.
I just looked and they're on my '19 F Sport, build Sept '18. My car was trucked from Texas to FL in Oct '18 since it was shortly after the model's introduction.
The install is part of the PDI, Pre Delivery Inspection. Techs get paid for doing it and
it is gravy work, everything is clean and should not have been overlooked.
How much was the listed price on sticker window for that?
This item wasn't listed on the sticker or anywhere else that I can find.
I'm assuming the the parts needed to be installed by the dealer because they could be damaged by the way the cars are strapped down during transport. Looks like these things are used to reduce wind noise.
BTW, the part# is 53852-06210 in case you are missing them.
I just checked my '19 ES300H Lux and they are there. In fact it looks like the back wheels have them too. I guess the installer got distracted and forgot.
