Default FYI Dashboard corner speakers and wire

For those of you who are interested in changing or upgrading their dashboard speakers. This is the connector that my 2020 ES 300h uses.
This harness fits exactly and does not require any sort of cutting: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I had purchased these Infinity Reference REF-3032CFX 3-1/2" 2-way Car Speakers but returned them due to not sounding significantly better than the stock, at least to my ears anyway. They also did not fit exactly and the screw will not hold both holes at the same time.

Interesting.
How did you remove the top speaker grille? By simply pulling it upwards?
The speaker looks quality. It has a midrange speaker, and a concentric tweeter.
The problem with this speaker configuration is that it is not pointing towards the ears, but towards the windscreen, and causing echoes. On left side, this reflection in somewhat ok, but not in the right side. So a solution could be to add additional speakers in the doors or in the A-pillar.
It is possible that the doors are already wired up.

The speaker grill will have to be popped up, it's held in place by 2 clips in front. You will need some sort of pry tool. Most corner dash speakers are pointed straight up toward the windscreen unless they are mounted near the mirrors like BMW. Most of the sound in front is coming from the center speaker anyway to my ears. I did not try with the center speaker yet. The main issue with the system is not the speakers but the balance issue.

I know it's an old thread but thank you for your contribution. Have you tried the front door speakers yet?

I ordered these and will let you guys know how they work out. Also got that red wolf harness. beats cutting even if it's $20!

That looks like the exact build of the Infinity speaker I got. Yea I'd rather pay for a perfect fit then do any sort of dremel cutting with electric tape..Front doors is a much harder project, and may require a mount with extra acoustic insulation. I have not seen any Youtube guides about it either.

^Yeah fingers crossed I'll make it work. I was analyzing your photos of the stock units and eyeballing it and they look roughly to be similar to the ones i bought. i wish you posted measurements but it's all good. So you were able to get one screw in but not the other? I remember i had a similar thing happen to my IS, same speaker size. One bolt would fit but not the other. The units I bought seem to have flexible screw holes so I'm hoping that does the trick.

Front doors I'm guessing will need adapters of some sort. Question is which ones.. existing Toyota/Lexus speaker adapters or new ones? I'm hoping they use an existing design from the Camry or something which would mean the aftermarket probably has options.

My CT was a breeze. 6x9 to 6.5" adapters which used the existing screw holes and aftermarket harness adapter. plug and play zap zap done. The sound was beautiful both not amped and amped.

Should work just fine. I ended just screwing one side and the washer will catch the outer edge of the other screw mount (washer already on factory screw). A little foam around the speaker edge just in case. Was secured fine. I bought the 4" version and that did NOT fit at all.

I'll install them tomorrow most likely and report back. Weekend at latest. For now I'm listening to music at level 50 or so to establish a baseline of how it sounds before and after.
