Do you experience jerkiness in transmission with your ES350?
Just curious how of you out there experience the jerky transmission issue with the non-hybrid ES?

It might be there very subtly, but I’m not sufficiently mechanical to notice it. Neither wife, nor I, have any complaint. From 32,000 ft., as they say, the car is just wonderful.

The worst time I experience the jerks are when slowing down in city traffic, like coming to a stop light. When the light turns green and I'm still going 15-20 mph, if I try to speed back up, I get a big jerk as the transmission downshifts. If I stay very light on the accelerator, it doesn't do that, but it also takes a long time to get back up to speed. I don't think this is uncommon in automatics with more than 6 speeds, but it's not very "luxurious" for a luxury car.

There's no comparison between the 8 speed and the 6 speed in gen 6 cars. The 8 speed is terrible when accelerating from a rolling start. Does exactly what Packman says and jerks you back. My 2013 6 speed was as smooth as butter...

I have no idea why but the ES is the only Lexus sedan that has problems with the tranny, almost every single generation had some kind of problems. The 4ES a lotta problems, 5ES shift flare, now 7ES hard shifts...
I can’t believe that those drivers that test the prototypes are not able to see/feel those problems.

So very true. I had a six speed in a 2014 Azera which was the best trans Ive ever driven. Never felt a thing and it's a Hyundai 🤔🤔

It's only a problem if you have a lead foot. Or drive up a lot of hills.
