Default 2022 Lexus ES Refresh tease photo (redesigned headlights)

Apparently will debut at the Shanghai Auto Show.

It looks like the rear remains 100% unchanged.

What's unclear is this teaser photo is the standard headlight system or the revised triple beam?

Also there seems to be a prominence/bulge at the front spindle grill.

Looks like the new DRLs are set wider apart, giving the car's front a wider appearance. The old DRLs dig deep into the corners.

Can't wait to see the official reveal!

For comparison here's the old lights:

I wonder if those two fingers to the left of each lens, might be to reduce glare that many complain about?

Nah. That's just aesthetics. any optics packaging would take place at the lens or internal projector.

Looks like the rear turning signal is still incandescent. Yet the Avalon top trim has sequential turning signals for both front and rear. Go figure.

i think the rear turn signal on current ES is LED, all trim levels. Front turn signal on base models is incandescent.

I just pull up a review of 2021 ES350 UL on YouTube. The rear turning signal is incandescent while the front is LED. Same thing on my 2019 ES300h Lux.

No. lol....

the rear turn signal is LED. There are zero serviceable bulbs on the rear light array. LED rear turns are on all trim levels as Toyotaman7 said.

Damn. Is the rear turn signal really LED? LOL. It doesn't look like it to me. I came from the German's and their LED turn signal looks so much better than my ES.

It's plain jane yes. But LED. The rear lights could benefit from a major refresh. We'll find out in less than a week i guess.

I really like how Audi is doing with their front and rear LED implementation lately. Those dancing lights they have on some of the models while gimmicky it's very cool to see.

Mercury had those in the 70s Kidding aside, they do look nice in motion.

What else could we see with a redesign other than updated front/rear lights?

I know in the Avalon mid-refresh, they also did an updated infotainment system and that was largely it besides new bumper covers and lights.

I’ve also seen Toyota do different bumper covers and adding more USB ports.

Nothing too wild based on their track record.

I’m hoping for an AWD ES300h with an electric motor on the rear axel.

It is a mystery to me why Lexus doesn't have ES350 AWD or at a minimal ES300h AWD. Maybe going with ES250 AWD they can check the box and make a handsome profit with little to no effort spent on additional engineering for this variant using all existing bin parts.

ES250 AWD is a phone-in vehicle with minimal risk at end of the day.
