On the road now. Will do that when I get to PA if the problem doesn’t resolve.

Also called service tech at dealer where I bought. He said absolutely not to worry. Some, even sometimes significant, oil consumption at break-in is normal. It will settle down. If needed, will top off at 5,000 mile check-up. I feel better today after waiting a bit longer before checking oil. Higher reading. Will wait longer before checking from now on. Will continue to post.

Uh oh - it's not too high - is it?

Level at 2000 miles. Down but holding steady the past 400 miles.

After 10 weeks and 2,000 miles. But holding steady.
Should I add half a quart?

That doesn't look good. As I've said, same engine in both of our cars and NEVER a drop of oil consumed in a combined 85K miles. I would top it off and next time it drops, head to the dealer.

Thanks. I’m hoping it has sort of bottomed out and will now remain stable. If any further change at all, I’ll add a bit. Can’t hurt to do so.

You have an oil burner. It is probably going to be a long journey ahead for you. Hopefully Lexus will treat you right unlike Acura that kept kicking me around and using stall tactics and then used their lawyers to make it a painful experience.

Will keep an eye on it. Just checked it after giving it a longer time for the oil to flow back. Seems to be about 15-20% down from full, but stable over the last 400 miles or so. I’ll continue monitoring and let you know. Maybe it has stabilized and will be okay after “break-in” period. Hopeful!
Thanks for your support and advice.

In case you haven't looked it up already, the Lexus ES350 Owner's Manual in the "Checking and adding the engine oil" section (on page 311 in the 2019 version) states:

• Oil quantity (Low → Full)
1.9 qt. (1.8 L, 1.6 Imp.qt.)
So, eyeballing your photo you have some way to go before you get below the half way mark where you can add a full quart and not overfill the oil. Hopefully you won't get to that point of needing a full quart, but if you do waiting until it can take a full quart will save you the fuss of dealing with an unused partial quart of oil. It will also give you a more accurate sounding data point on oil consumption when dealing with the dealer service department - "Used a quart of oil in X miles. Put a quart of oil in and now look where the level is at at Y miles."

Half way home. Oil use has stopped.. Added about 1/8 of a quart bottle of Mobil One full synthetic.. Took it up close to full line. It was actually down a very modest amount. Now stable there. No longer using any. I’ll keep checking but I think I’m okay. Hopefully, car simply used some oil during break-in.
