Based on my experience and friends who take cars to dealerships for routine maintenance, I would say the percentage is very high. In fact, if people looked, they would find something not right close to 100% of the time. Usually something minor that does not affect operability, eg missing fasteners, access panels, etc. The stripped bolt and over tightened filter housings do not show until next oil change.

If you use CL5 in the promo code you get a 10% discount.

For those who need 0W-16, You can use this oil. This brand is factory fill for Subaru and the only aftermarket 0W-16. https://amzn.to/3dvlqS7 (Idemitsu)

For those needing a more conventional 5W-20 type, I used Amazon Basics which is a very strong oil. Sadly they don't offer a 0-16 last time i checked. I'm waiting!

dont forget that they overfill above full mark in at least half of the oil changes

I thought they recommended using 0W-20, according to the manual. I'll probably stick of what they recommended and just use Mobile1 Advanced Fuel Economy SAE 0W-20 (Green label)

It could be. i don't really follow the V6.

0W16 is hybrid and whatever you need for the V6, amazon basics specs it.

About 30 minutes later, part with $90 and head home! Alternatively, I can request a loaner but that sometimes seems like a bigger pita once I have to go back to pick it up.
‘Not too bad, but I can change the oil using Toyota filters and oil for about $34 in that same 30min. I think I’ll keep the $56 I saved in my wallet instead of Toyota’s. Plus, with my 100 mile commute I change my oil every 3-4 months. I change oil every 5k miles.

I actually have a Toyota dealer that is much closer to my home than the Lexus dealer. A full synthetic oil change costs $60 and I have the peace of mind of knowing that the work is being done by a qualified tech.
I've gone to some other places (i.e. Kwik Kar, Midas, Valvoline) but they weren't any cheaper than Toyota. I've even had some bad experiences where oil leaked all over my garage floor afterward.

DIY is still preferable if you can. Don't have too much faith in "qualified techs," they often times (if not 100% of the time) hand the grunt work (oil changes etc) to junior technicians. meaning kids.

I'll be doing my break in oil change soon. Debating doing it at 800 or 1000 miles. Overkill but keep insurance should i decide to keep the car long term.

Preferable for you perhaps. If the dealer F's up, it's on them. This is all personal preference. My days of changing oil are long over.

Yeah but F-ups in the oil change arena may not show up in the way you think they will. In other words, it's not something you may notice right away or errors may not manifest immediately, which would make it harder to blame them down the road.

Plus the tech has to get in and out of your car, drive it, and test drive. Then park it next to other cars who could door ding you. The possibilities are endless. Keeping your car in your garage and doing it yourself eliminates all that.

Even the car care nut a master toyota tech recommends DIY for these very reasons. and he works at a dealer so he knows inside stuff. he talks about there's good techs but also not so good ones... and that stuff like this is given to junior mechanics. just be mindful of that sort of stuff.

DIY is incredibly easy. I might look into an oil extractor to help things go even faster. Only thing is i'm not sure if a hose can reach all the way to the bottom of the oil pan.

So sure enough I go home and there's drag marks on the roof from where she took the sandy magnetic cone off. i had to polish it out. it was fairly nasty too. the lines were all squiggly like she dragged and ground it into the paint.

you just never know what they will do to your car seen and unseen. don't believe that because it's the dealer, nothing will happen. these people are usually not car people and definitely won't care about your car like they would their own.

As far as changing the oil on the 350 and hybrid, relatively similar. undo plastic panel on bottom with 10mm socket, drain oil w/ 17mm wrench/socket, replace o ring on drain plug and use special tool for the oil filter. pour in new oil like any other car.
The cone on the roof is another reason why I never allow my car to be washed at the dealer. I forgot one time and It did not come back completely clean or completely dry. You just don't know what goes on when the car is out of your control. On my 2013 after a recall the car came back with a brand new leather seat ripped. One member posted on here that after dropping off his car and getting a loaner, he saw HIS car being driven by two mechanics picking up lunch...
