Default Bluetooth Issues

First Lexus, 2019 ES and totally loving it!
I am noticing a few quirks, one of which is the random Bluetooth disconnection from my phone when playing music. It manages to reconnect after a few seconds, but it’s still quite annoying and I’ve never had issues with previous cars. Anyone else experience this at all? It’s an iPhone 8 if that makes any difference. Thanks in advance!

No issues with my Samsung S20.

All is good w/ my iPhone 12 Pro.

Did you try updating the firmware through the menus, for the car stereo.

Had similar issues with my iPhone 7. Recently had to upgrade to an iPhone XR and the issues are gone now.
I think 7's and 8's are just old at this point and once they get the new OS, they get slow.
Just my 2 cents.

Thanks for the input. The car firmware should be up to date, as I noticed when I test drove it a few weeks ago before buying it wanted to update so I let it. Maybe I will try my wife’s newer iPhone for a few days and see if that makes a difference. Thanks everyone

That's probably it. RavingDave needs to turn into a RagingDave and chuck his iPhone 8 and replace it with an iPhone 12! Get with the times! =p

Are you charging your iPhone (any model) with the cord connected to the Data ports at the front of the console?
Those ports work well for Apple Car Play, music and phone but if you are just charging and using BT for both
connections it may be causing your glitch. Try plugging your charging only cord into a charging port such as
those on the back side of the console (intended for back seat passengers).

BTW, I have a dash cam power cord hidden under moldings down the B pillar and into those ports.
Powers up when the car starts, triggers a trill so I know its on and then the screen goes dark while
driving.

Agreed. My 11 Pro is working fine with the ES. In fact, the ES has the best quality Bluetooth sound that I have ever experienced. There were some multi-media updates on https://drivers.lexus.com for the 2019 (in addition to the over-the-air updates) but I don't see those any more. Perhaps they had too many problems with people clobbering their head units with the update and now only the dealer can install those kinds of updates? You might want to ask your dealer if there are any Multi-media updates available for your car. The 8 was a good phone but perhaps the newer cars use Bluetooth version 5.0 and the iPhone 8 was only capable of Bluetooth 4.0 - perhaps that make a difference in its ability to maintain the connection? This is just speculation on my part of course. I had an iPhone X when we purchased this ES and it also worked without issue. Of course, it is always possible there is an issue with the head unit on your car but I would think that is the last place I would look. You can use this as an argument to justify upgrading to a new phone.

It’s an issue when it’s not charging/plugged into any port. Think I may need to upgrade my phone. Thanks though for the input though!!!
