Default Extremely low volume issue when talking on the phone

Posting this for my dad as he just leased his second ES 350 a couple days ago.

It is a 2021 ES 350 and when he is on the phone through bluetooth or Apple CarPlay, he can barely hear the person he is speaking with. When he tested out a couple calls with me, I can hear him fine like any regular call. I checked the settings in the car and the phone volume is set at the maximum 16 along with the phone's volume also being set at max so I know either of those things aren't the issue.

Has anybody else experienced this issue and if so, was there a solution you found to it?

Has he tried increasing the volume of the stereo while he's on a call?
It should be able to go as loud as the radio can support.

Thanks veeinc, as that worked...to an extent. When he is connected to Apple CarPlay with his charging cord, the volume went all the way up when he used the volume **** on the stereo as opposed to the volume button on the steering wheel. When he is only connected through Bluetooth (no charging cord), the max volume for a call is still low and only goes up to 16. He's a baby boomer so just need to get him used to using Apple CarPlay and connecting to the charging cord all the time now instead of Bluetooth. Thanks again for the helpful suggestion!

When connected via Bluetooth you can control the volume by using the phone's volume rocker.

Remember too, the volume is independent for each audio source.

kalel2127 is on the right track, during a phone call use the phone's volume buttons.
Now you can always turn the callers voice down using the radio or steering wheel volume controls.
