I figured that many of the newer ES350 owners would have owned previous models.
I will buy a used ES in the spring. Could you tell me what yrs. ES350. You would consider. Only 2018 and older.
Thanks for your time.

I'm no authority compared to some on this board, but I can say this: While some generations of the car are more highly regarded than others in areas like interior luxury or quietness, most of them were about equally reliable. All things being equal, if reliability is your goal, buy the newest well-maintained example you can afford.

I might add there were some minor cosmetic improvements in the 2016 - 2018 refreshed models. I believe the 2017 was the last to use the old 3g communication so if you want things like factory remote start (via an annual subscription) then you would want to look for a 2018. I believe there were also some Nav improvements in the later generation so if factory nav is important to you, that may be another factor you want to consider. As to reliability, my 2015 was excellent and I never had a single issue. I have not heard of any particular years that are problematic. I think the last post said it well, look for the latest, clean car that your budget will allow and enjoy! You don’t need to overthink it. I would be more concerned about condition of the vehicle than the year.

I would get a 7th gen ES (2019 or newer) Also, if music sound quality is important to you, get the ML upgrade.

Well you would have to judge each individual vehicle for it's merits such as maintenance, care, abuse, appearance, etc. A 2014 may turn out to be a better investment than a 2018 if it was scrupulously maintained. When I sold my 2013 to buy a 2019, the buyer hit a home run. The car was absolutely like new although 6 years old. Not a scratch. Obviously you would try to find a car with lower mileage, but not one that wasn't maintained. The later MY cars have more safety features than the earlier models. Figure out your budget and go from there.
GOOD LUCK!

The dealers I have talked to said forget about the ultra luxury, and buy a luxury instead. Talked to Thousand oaks lexus today. He thinks costco pricing is about 800 to 1000 off msrp. Will talk to my credit union and see what discounts they offer

It was more than cosmetic for the 2016 refresh.
