This was actually a very, very good deal! He was able to receive a disc. of 6% when most were paying MSRP+. Add in a substantial rebate and then the real saving grace was the almost non-existent interest/rent charge. A rough estimate tells me that the interest added per month was only around $10. That's almost nothing! Deals like that have been non-existent for some time now and will be for the foreseeable future. The post said he bought a 350 UL in Feb. so even if it wasn't a lease, the interest rates would have likely still been pretty high. Here is some perspective.
Take that same lease deal for the ES 300 Lux for $542/mo within the last few months and you would be paying nearly $814 a month or an effective payment of around $801. It makes me wince!
So I would definitely count yourself lucky to get those deals in when you did before the rates skyrocketed and fewer discounts were to be had.

Just for fun (low key wanting a 2022) I emailed my dealer. They said 3k markup. like nope!

LIke a straight up ADM of $3k? They didn't even try to have the markup fall under the guise of added, pointless features?
That's ridiculous. I'm just glad my dealers don't go that route. All dealerships want to make as much money as possible and I get that. My Dealer's business model doesn't entertain any markups. They also don't resort to adding on over-priced equipment after the fact.

That $3k wouldn't be the only detractor! Rates are TERRIBLE! Even without the markup, the rates are going to add a significant amount. Even with full MSD's, rates are still high!

I keep up with the buyback values and currently I am already in the positive by $1200 with Carvana if I sold soon. Carmax almost always comes in a few thousand higher on newer model, high end trades. If I sold today, I would be at least $5k ahead!

Congrats on your purchase! I didn’t want to say anything, but I personally wouldn’t have traded a vehicle I bought brand new in 2022 for a used 2020 ES, especially since 2 year old used cars are going for MSRP or close to it right now. I just would have gotten a new ES. Hopefully you didn’t except the first offer they gave you on your trade in, since they usually first offer you a low ball offer to see if you’ll except. That was the case with me when I traded in my 2020 Accord for my ES. They gave me a really good offer, more than what I paid. But after some back in forth, I ended up getting an additional $2,500 more.

Oh no definitely didn't accept first offer for trade low balled me at 42k to begin with....they just wouldn't give in much on the Lexus started out $42900 only almost 1k off said practically brand new I said it's 2020 they said your getting 2yr extended warranty past the 4yrs with certified ownership.About didn't except it but getting a new one is a waiting game and wanted to go ahead and get out of Palisade before it would lose anymore value cause really didn't need SUV anymore circumstances changed
in a year and also been driving SUV's for over 20 yrs wanted a change at 60 yr old anyway brand new luxury about what I have is like 47k I believe and this car had only 6k mint condition so I took the plunge probably stupid move but hopefully this 20 will hold value thx for reply!

You’re welcome. Sorry if I was a little harsh on you. That’s good you didn’t except the first offer. I saw a former finance manager say in a video that they offer you three prices. The steal, real and deal price, in that order. The steal price is the price they try to steal your car from you. The real price is what your car is worth. And the deal price is the amount they are willing to give you to make a deal.
That’s great you were able to bring the price down on your ES! A lot of dealers aren’t willing to budge right now. You’re right about having to wait on a new car. My car was in transit and I did the application process before it arrived, I just didn’t sign any papers until I saw it in person. The wait wasn’t too long, though. I hope you enjoy your car. Is this your first Lexus?

No this is my 2nd had GX460 before...I walked out a couple of times I had told them after first offer for car wasn't taking less than what I got and they finally gave in.I knew these Palisades are wanted and hard to get as well Hyundai has came along ways.I quess drove SUV for a year and lost 3k but hopefully this ES will hold value only put about 15k miles on a car a yr anyways. They didn't have window sticker to look at on my new car but I did a free Vin check and said this car sold for almost 47k back in March 2020 so its probably a base with premium pkg and wood trim but it does have panoramic kick open trunk but only 17in wheels...

That’s great you have a panoramic sunroof. I wish those came on the F Sports.

Are folks still paying MSRP for the ES or are there deals again?

At my local dealer I've noticed advertised discounts of about $2500 off MSRP for the 2023 ES 350.
