I'm amazed at the deals people have been able to score. Here in Southern California (as of April 2022), it's very hard to get a ES300h or NX300h for MSRP. The best deal I was able to score was $2k over MSRP on a lease with $1,500 rebate, so effectively $500 over MSRP for a fully loaded Luxury model. The dealer took down a $5k deposit and then called me about a week later saying I had to actually come in to contract the car. Salesperson said that anything in inventory is an automatic $5k over MSRP, but only a handful of RX or ES350 on the lot. I think the issue with hybrids is that in So Cal we have one of the highest gas prices in the entire country and everyone is desperately looking for a fuel efficient car. The ES300h isn't that much more than a fully loaded electric vehicle or Toyota Hybrid,, especially considering the ridiculous markups many dealers are doing The local Toyota dealer is charging $10k over MSRP for RAV4, Highlander or Camry Hybrids. Hyundai dealers also charging $10k over for the new Hyundai electric vehicles on the lot. In this market the ES300h is a bit of a no brainer, especially for people that need a car right away. For those who can wait, I'm sure things will cool off in the next 12 to 24 months, but not sure we will ever see the crazy discounts of the past.

Not sure that the comparison is the same. I don't see any type of collusion happening, just dealers that are taking advantage of the lack of supply. It is disappointing to see Lexus dealers engaging in this, but I also don't blame them as if they sell at MSRP, flippers will just buy up the hot models and resell. The entire auto industry is simply going to follow the Tesla model at some point. What real value do dealership sales staff provide anyways? I also think that hybrid models will continue to be in high demand as electric vehicles prices will continue to creep up due to rising battery costs.

Longo, one of the largest (if not the largest) has 20 ES350s in stock. 0 hybrids. crazy.

When/where did you get those numbers?

As of 3:22PM 19 April 2022 when I checked Longo's web site ES new vehicle listings, 23 ESs were listed. All but six were tagged with "VEHICLE ETA IS APPROX. 2 WEEKS". One of the six (presumedly on hand) was an ES 300h. There was an additional two ES 300h listed with the ETA tag. (The model and trim count numbers in the refine search pane aren't quite right especially for 300h model/trim counts. You have to look at each listing to see what the real numbers are.)

A quick search on cars.com shows 304 ES 300h models and 951 ES 350 vehicles. I don’t know if Lexus publishes such information so this is the closest I can get to answering that question. Without doing the math, about 25% of available ES cars are hybrids - if you believe the numbers reported by cars.com. Market conditions may distort this crude attempt to gauge production somewhat since fuel prices can alter demand.

even though supply is tight, don't believe the mark-up hype. i recently purchased my 2022 ES-300h for MSRP and every dealership that i walked into to quote/negotiate was willing to give me a car (that's been allocated to them) at MSRP. though sadly, no discounts :/

How is it hype if that’s what people are experiencing in different parts of the country? I took delivery of a new ES UL a week ago and it was MSRP + a mark up of over $1K. Both Lexus dealers in the Atlanta area are doing it and they were set in that, no negotiation.
