unleaded 88

All I’ve ever used is 87/88 octane in regular unleaded and haven’t had any issues.

Where in IL are you finding 88 octane?
Edit: I looked it up and see that it's actually E15 gas. On my old 2013, the most ethanol allowed was 10%. I see that it was changed at some point, and 15% is now allowed, but no higher. That said, I wouldn't make a habit of using it. You will see decreased fuel economy and is too close to the limit of what Toyota/Lexus says you can use.
