Default Credit card key fob

Hi everyone.

I have 2019 es350 f sport. I want to register a credit card key to my car. Is it possible to do so?if so does the key have to be brand new? I have done some research and I believe that the frequency of my original key is 315 MHz and I have a used credit card key with the same frequency. I have attached a picture of the used key that I have . Can anyone help pls.

You need a new card.

Ones which can be programmed to a 2016+ RX should work. There are different keycards and you’ll need to find the right part number.

Thanks a lot. Could you please let me know what I should be considering when I'm looking for one?is it the frequency only?or is there anything else.

Head over to parts.Lexus.com and find your regular key part number. Then click on “this part also fits”. Go to one of those models (like the Gx) and then find the part number for their key card.

Order that.

Does anyone have a definitive answer or personal experience that a key card will or will not work on a 2019 ES American version?

Like wallets, that key card is 1999. Fob isn't much better but I can see that being forgotten or getting lost. Plus it's thick... like 1994 electronics thick.

To be specific, for those who haven't seen one in person, it's described as the thickness of 3 credit cards. That sounds about right to me.

It can’t be much thinner as it uses a coin battery and the shell gives it rigidity. Have one for at least 10 years and still no issue. Wears better than a key fob as it’s always in my wallet.

Not true. Thick, compared too...

1. It is not thicker than the phone people carry.
2. It is not thicker than they actual key people carry.
3. Contrary to popular belief most people still carry something (wallet) as a means to store their debit or credit card. -- and it thinner than that...
4. It is no thicker than the wad of money most lexus driver walk around with. 😂🤣

I exclusively carry the card fob. I have never used the actual key since purchasing my vehicle.

Yes considering you also have the metal key slotted in, it’s a great design.
