Updates for 2023 ES - New Lexus Infotainment interface?
#46
By the time 8th gen ES rolls out Lexus has enough time to work out any kinks. Toyota/Lexus is known for improving upon their existing design over time by making small changes rather than big ones and that is a major part of what made their vehicles more reliable. Big changes are inherently more risky and introduce more defects.
You're right about refinement but these new powertrains and tech are... well... new. Everything's new at one point right?
Don't assume new tech with Lexus will be issue free. no ones immune. The germans already have a head start on technology packing and complex powertrains so i feel toyota will have some pains with their new stuff (which they are)

What I am saying it Lexus will take the engine and the tech from 2021 Lexus NX300h and they will fix any kinks and tweak it for 8th ES. I am sure within a year Toyota will fix the described issues in the new Tundra. The Japanese is good at coming up with a fix and not tossing out the bathwater with the baby.

Assuming we're going to have to live with screens in some form for a long time to come, I just hope that Lexus doesn't fall prey to the elimination of hard buttons for critical features. It's not safe, in my opinion, to have everything on a touch screen.

I get your point, but given the apparent desire on the part of many car buyers to have lots of gee-whiz tech in fancy screens, the designers' options are rather limited. Yes, some are more smoothly integrated, perhaps, but the Lexus version in the ES is still a lot better than some others that seem to literally glued on to the dash. And I still prefer this to the wall-to-wall "hyper screen" look from Mercedes....that's just way too much!

Yeah I think it's well done. This should be the new design language going forward for Lexus line-up. The Crown iPad style is outdated but I still like it more compare to the Avalon. That thing is atrocious.
