That is the general consensus. I wasn't in this camp until I went to Mazda meet up and saw it up close in person. After seeing "soul red" color I agree. It is very well done and best red I have seen. Because red has the longest wavelength it is eye catching color. It is known as the "cop magnet" in the car community. It does have a downside as red paint tends to look dull quite easily if dust gathers on the surface. Overtime this paint dulls quicker if not properly maintain and especially if the vehicle lives outside.

Of course, that brilliant color has some downsides. Body-shop trade publications report that Mazda's color gets its brilliance from a three-layer process that's hell to color-match in case it needs crash repairs. It also has a reputation as a very soft and chip-prone paint. But hey, who'd kick a beauty out of bed because they ate crackers?

That Mazda red is absolutely jaw dropping, best red I’ve ever seen.
I had a similar multicoat red on my Tesla, when I had to get bodywork done it was certainly not a perfect match. No human can ever paint a metallic/pearl coating as well as a programmed robot and it showed.

Plenty of Lexus colors are multicoat as well - white pearl is three and atomic silver I believe is four.

Matador red is gorgeous when clean, but it does take work. Our previous NX was MRM and we received a lot of compliments on it when clean and especially when the sun was hitting it. We replaced it with an Ultra White RX and we don’t get any compliments but we like the classy look and it is much easier to care for. It doesn’t look hazy from dust and pollen settling on it like the MRM did after the first hour. Dark colors are just more work, there is no getting around it, but at the same time they do stand out.

Dark colors show dust and dirt quickly because the darker the paint the last light reflected back at you. White and silver are both very bright colors because they reflect most of the light back at your eyes so you don’t see the dust and dirt as easily.
