Default Welcome Home! 2022 ES350 F-Sport Concerns

Just picked up a Cloudburst Gray/Rioja Red 2022 ES350 F-Sport and I had a few concerns. Car is beautiful, drives and performs great, the Mark Levinson and Triple Beam Headlights really set it off. Coming from a 2007 ES350 with 340k miles (Still Daily it), the older ES gets so much better gas mileage then the new one and is so much quicker. It is to the point my M340I FBO + E85 Tuned is getting more range with a smaller tank. I have not gotten the average MPG to go above 22.3 driving it like a grandma, while my 2007 flies and averages 25-27 mpg with a heavy foot. Also my cousins 2020 ES350 averages 27 MPG while again mine wont go above 22.3. I will include the spec sheets for both cars and interestingly enough there is a mpg discrepancy between the 2020/2022 even though drivetrain wise everything is the same. Does anyone know what they could have possibly changed? My cousins 2020 and my 2022 drive exactly the same can't tell a difference in throttle mapping/takeoff, etc. Another concern is the use of 0W-20 oil from factory and recommended 10k service intervals. Correct me if I'm wrong but the 3.5 V6 in my 2007 and the 2022 ES350 is virtually the same no? Couldn't tell of any major changes by opening the hoods and looking at the engine bays from the top on either of them. Anyone on here have any issues of 5W-30 long term instead of 0W-20? Can't imagine it'll go 340k like my older one with 0W-20 and 10k service intervals. Besides this, the car is perfect. Quality is great and I'm sure it'll hold up like my older one being a Lexus. Any insight/help from others on here would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

If you go to EPA Fuel Economy Compare Side-by-Side set up the year and model comparisons for 2020 ES 350 and ES 350 F Sport and 2022 ES 350 and ES 350 F Sport you'll find both years' ES 350 MPG stats : 22 city 32 highway 26 combined and both years' ES 350 F Sport MPG stats : 22 city 31 highway 25 combined.

Technically, you aren't seeing any change in EPA MPG ratings between model years; you're just seeing a difference between ES model types. As to why there's a 1 MPG difference between the ES 350 and ES 350 F Sport hard to say given the complexities of EPA MPG testing requirements and analytical methods used in determining the EPA MPG ratings. Pure speculation on my part - it might be there is a slight difference in throttle response and transmission shift mappings which will lead to a 1 MPG difference between the two model types in the EPA highway profile testing regime.

pretty sure it's actually because the F sport has 19 inch wheels while the other models have 17/18

Note that the 10k service intervals don't apply if you subject your car to any kind of severe service, including a steady diet of short trips, stop & go, or dirty/dusty conditions. I personally wouldn't think of waiting 10k for oil changes.

And yes, there are some engine changes in the intervening years. That's why your new car is considerably more powerful.

Circuit red and not Rioja! Gorgeous car. I average darn close to 30 mpg with my FSport but it's mostly cruising miles from my daily commute. I've been changing oil 0W20 every 6 or 7K miles. 45K miles on the clock so far. Good luck with yours - I love gray cars!

Congrats. Did your dog eat your window sticker? wth?

Use what the factory specifies in manual for oil. Don't deviate.

The gas mileage is what it is. Nothing will change that potentially except time and break-in.

Looks like the wrong sticker anyway. FSport for $47K if I'm reading that right? PANO roof as well, wood trim - nope not an FSport.

I believe they eliminated that for 2022 but the badge is still on the front fender.

47K MSRP is my cousins 2020 Non F-Sport. Other Window sticker is my 2022 F-Sport 54k MSRP. Put both to show difference in MPG estimates on window sticker.
