Remove trunk emblem and put on L E X U S letters
I like the new look of just the word Lexus spelled out on the back of the new NX.
Has anyone with a 7th gen ES had the rear trunk emblem "shaved" / removed? I imagine it's not rocket science. Not sure if I'll go through with it, but I'm thinking about it... it would be unique even though 99.99% of the population couldn't care less LOL

Oh I fully understand a body shop would need to handle welding in a blank plate and re-painting so the trunk lid is flush...

Lead Lap
Sounds like a pretty big job and very expensive to boot... Maybe repainting the trunk lid won't match either... Nice idea but not for me...

I'm not a fan of that new look at all.

I must admit I do like the new spread out name badging, though I don't mind the traditional L-logo. One thing I don't understand, though, is why Lexus no longer has the Lexus name badge on the lower deck lid (left side, with ES350 on right). It appears, from looking at brochures that US destined models do not have the Lexus name while at least the ones in Europe do. At first I thought North American models were excluded but I looked at a 2022 Canadian ES brochure the other day and they still get the name badging. I like the look, and I purchased an OEM Lexus badge and attached it the same way on my new 22 ES UL.

I've thought about that when the first photos leaked, but it likely wouldn't work or be practical. There's a hole / indentation there so it would require body work and that area is curved. the letters are flat. so you'd need to bend the letters somehow. it's just not designed for it.

it'll wear well and professionally. Lexus has teams of teams of people who research and approve the most granular details of every decision. a big one like this was not taken lightly. Besides range rover does it, why not. they're going for a big modern top of the line classy high end look.
It likely works better with larger/taller models with more real estate in back.
our trunk section where this would go is too tiny/thin/curved and not in your face enough to promote big bold lettering. this kind of design exercise is not for retrofitting and has to be baked into the recipe from the start.

Removing the emblem and replacing with the text script is the new thing now. It is almost like top designers from manufacturers went to a secret convention and decided this is the new direction. They are all rowing in the same direction and we are just coming along for the ride.

I think it looks high end and extra rich. ultra premium. R A N G E R O V E R
Lexus in the past has just modeled and copied after the corresponding Toyota product with a badge of the exact same shape and location. They're trying to differentiate their product image and move it more in line with premium competitors.
Having an L emblem where the T emblem would go is just lazy and has worked for decades but customers want their money to stand for products that stand out. business not as usual!
You either have a chrome L like H (honduh) or a plasticky cheap L like we have. the only fix without a total redesign of the L is to just spell it out.
