Well that is a punch in the gut because they remodeled the infotainment center last year so they should’ve installed the freaking software then

I don't believe current US regulations - notoriously slow to adapt - will allow them. NHTSA is supposedly reviewing it, but that process can take a very long time; then you have to get manufacturers on board once its approved.

Yeah the mirror screens really should be integrated into a future full wide screen cluster like what Audi has. But that would take a ton of development and add unneeded costs to something a very small sliver of people will buy. So that's probably why this first iteration looks tacked on. Just a showcase of whats possible.

There will always be goodies in subsequent MYs that you'd like. You'd never buy a car if you get hung up on that.

True..

1st MY= Don't buy it! Let the manufacturer fix all the kinks!
2nd MY= Don't buy it! Still too new... and besides.. a refresh is coming next year!
3rd MY= OK it's refreshed... but I dunno.. only 2 more years and the new design is coming
4th MY= these new colors and options are nice, but I think I'll just wait for the next model year
5th MY= The next gen design is leaked. It looks weird. Maybe I'll play it safe and get a good deal on this one. It's the most reliable! Or maybe....

Yep you can certainly take that approach I prefer to take my chances on the first MY and this way, my car doesn't seemed dated for many years to come. Sort of like a kitchen with white appliances

Also with some cars you can kind of tell they gave old looking headlights/tail lights on purpose, KNOWING they will update them with the refresh. But I agree.. i'll likely get the 8ES first year it comes out. Then come here to complain about all its rattles. LOL

my argument with the software is they updated the infotainment center last year and could have easily loaded the new software. They didn’t make any changes to the entertainment center this year other than loading the new software.

As a '22 owner I would suggest Lexus should let us get a software update even if we have to pay for it, to get the new user interface, instead of buying a new car. But, I think that is an impossible request, not for technical reasons though...

I seriously doubt it is as simple as a software install. I wouldn’t be surprised if it runs a different processor, with a wider bus. These kinds of changes are rarely as simple as they look.

This reminds me of the kicking and screaming with MY19 owners related to Android Auto. Oh well. You win some and you lose some.

You win some. You lose some. That’s how it goes. It is what it is. Beggars can’t be choosers

With Lexus, that is asking for too much. They didn't even update 19 to get Android Auto here while some in other countries were able to get the update.

I honestly don't think you are missing much since 22 already have the touch screen.

I’m very happy with what I have. The place where I come from, back in the day, we used to have donkeys as transportation. One was very lucky to own a donkey. We used to look at the donkey’s teeth to figure out whether or not it was healthy and reliable. Most people who didn’t own a donkey were stuck taking the overcrowded bus everywhere in 95 degree heat without air conditioning. It was horrible.
The 2022 ES350 Ultra Luxury has all the amenities that I need. I’m not complaining like some do in here. Things could’ve been worse and I could’ve been stuck owning a donkey if I didn’t have my 2022 ES350 Ultra Luxury.

This is mostly discussion and not much complaining. Now if I had to ride a donkey to work everyday, perhaps I'd be complaining😜 But I certainly recall as a young child riding in cars that had no AC. Now I'm stuck with no new infotainment nor Android Auto. Life just isn't fair!
