Hybrid 300h vs V6 ES350? (Merged threads)

You'll find the transmission to be much smoother in the 300h.
HP you'll probably miss, but if you're just doing city driving and never had a heavy foot in the first place, you won't miss it for long.
Have you test driven a 300h to see if you even like it?

Pole Position
IMO the new style both exterior and interior is worlds better and we currently own a 2017 ES300h. I had a 2021 ES 300h as a loaner while getting some maintenance done at my local Lexus dealer. Drove 56 miles a mix of highway and city and got 44 mpg. We would get the new style in a heartbeat but my wife wants a SUV so on waiting list for a NX350h. We both would never go back to gas. Hybrid or plug-in will be for both are new vehicles.

Moved from a model 3 to 300H
Seriously considering trading my 2018 350 (35,000 miles on it) in and getting a 300h.
Aside from the reduced horse power and transmission what other considerations should I be thinking about?
Positives are gas mileage, maintenance, and new body style.
I currently have a pano roof and I know that is not available.
Thanks!

+1 on the hybrid. it's torquey and responsive. you'll like it!
The transmission is not a concern cause for all intents and purposes there is no transmission. common misconception due to the acronym/marketing toyota goes with (mistake in my book). people associate it with rental car CVTs and it's apples and oranges.
the ES Hybrid basically has an engine, motors, and batteries. its power split device acts as a device that transmits engine power to the wheel with variable ratios. but it is NOT a CVT. This is why the reliability is virtually limitless! There's cars with this powertrain approaching 7 figures all original.

Hello. I had the model 3 for just about 4 years. It was fun to drive and loved some of the gadgetry but I would agree that I would not classify it as a Luxury car. I got the full.tax break so when you calculate the trade in I got for it it was a free car for 4 years and that includes one set of tires. I was ready for a change and maybe a bit disappointed on the lack of EV infrastructure progress. While I had no major issues with it, the insurance was double compared to all other vehicles so that wiped out the gas savings. Also the time to even get it serviced for a minor issue was usually 2-3 weeks out at least. I never had an issue where it was not drivable so I was lucky. They told me at the Lexus dealership that for new Tesla windshields they were backed up 6-12 months. That's nuts...Btw hated the lack of blind spot on the mirror. Could never adjust to always looking at center counsel for everything.

Someone else can correct me if I'm wrong, but...
The consensus seems to be that the stereo is not a surround sound system, and those who expect one will be disappointed. But the 2019 rear amp was almost entirely nonfunctional, and Lexus seems to have addressed the problem around 2020 with a different rear amplifier although they never publicly acknowledged the issue.
Listening advice: Set the fader two clicks to the rear and turn off Surround. Make sure you do it separately for each medium (radio, CD, etc.), because settings made for one medium don't change the others.

I bought the ES 300h.
Decided on the luxury package. Pearl white with black leather.
Mark Levinson is great.
Triple beam headlights look great.
HUD is a trip.
Love the upgraded wheels.
Very happy.

I love all of those features too, and I'll add the 360 bird's-eye parking vision. It's one of those "how did I live without them?" features.

I always forget about the joy of setting up a new car. I just spent 3 hours with Homelink and Liftmaster.
Both of my hand remotes were dead! What are the odds? Even tried new batteries. Couldn’t tell you when I last used them. Had to run and buy a new remote.
But working with Liftmaster one garage doors was erased so that meant my wife’s car also had no opener.
Then Homelink walked me throug the process.. But I swear I never did the steps he had me do to get my wife’s 2022 NX programmed.
Love ES 300h!
