Does the warranty require it?

It is better to be safe than sorry. Last thing you want is to give them any ammo to work with in the worst case scenario.

Visual inspection, tire rotation, and probably top off all fluids.

I just sent an email to my service department because I want the response in writing. I plan on doing my 5K and 10 K myself and didn’t even consider the consequences. I’ll let you know what they say.

Correct for the 5,000 mile schedule. If free I would do it if they will charge you I would skip. The 10,000 mile schedule is a tire rotation and an oil change. I do not know what they charge for this but my guess would be over $300. I ask for an oil change and tire rotation which cost $120. These do not void the warranty.

5 and 10 are both free at least when I bought mine in 2018.

Yep if you plan to keep the car well beyond six digits, 10k oil changes probably not a great plan.

I watched this video yesterday and think it’s his best video to date. He explains that iit’s not the top shelf oil that adds life to the engine but the frequency of changing the oil and filter. He further explains all the areas of the engine that oil and deposits remain even after an oil change. I’d be pissed if after 180,000 miles of doing the recommended oil change every 10,000 miles, I had to pay 6K for a short block replacement. Now that he no longer works for Toyota proper he also explains that they use the cheapest oil they can get when doing an oil change and that on the 5K it’s basically tire rotation and back out the door.

My local Lexus Service Manager told me the oil they use in th service department. It is a brand that I have heard of but not a major brand like Mobil, Pennzoil, Castrol etc. I can not remember the name. He said they use 55 gallon drums to fill and those do not come in that capacity. This is why I always bring my 5 quart jug of Mobil 1 for an oil change plus using their $12 rebate from Mobil buying it at Walmart saves me around $40.

The dealer where I got the Lexus from told me that they use Mobil 1 0W20 for the A25A-FXS. I didn’t believe him.

I will be getting my first oil change at 4,000 miles which is about how much I drive in 12 months now that I'm retired and a homebody.
What type of oil should I purchase and take to my dealer for them to use? Only the best for my baby. Probably will keep my 2022 Lexus 350 Luxury forever...lol
Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks
Rob

Use Supertech horse p_ss but change it often and it won't matter what brand it is. There have been some here who criticize the more frequent than 10k oil changes arguing we're wasting $ and polluting the earth. BS.
