Yep 23 is year five which seems hard to believe. I feel like mine is still pretty new but I have it almost four years. Just hit 50k miles, I suspect it will go at least another 50😁
The next question is the next ES, will it be based on the next gen Camry, or the new Crown, since the Avalon is now gone. Or a hybrid...the tall 4x4 profile of the crown does not seem fitting of an ES. but I guess we'll see.
If so maybe we'll get the main headlights down low, with a thin strip up top, like the new (new) 7 series. It's what's trending in cars so we may get a bit of this in the 8ES..
I imagine we'll see spy shots of a new camry coming soon.

We pretty well know they won't jack up the Camry, at least.
I'd be ecstatic if the next ES was like the low-slung, Mirai-related Crown sedan they're selling elsewhere but not here. If I read correctly, it was designed in the first place to be the next GS, so it'd be an upgrade in every way. But I have a sick feeling the next ES is actually going to be a twin to the tall US Avalon successor, minus the cladding. I wouldn't buy that thing in a thousand years.
Minor updates for the sake of updates to call it a new model year. Just shows the ES is coming to the end of the generation and will be replaced.
I would think the 2024 would probably loose the v6 in favor of the v4 turbo engine. I want to get a new car and am leaning towards the 2023 Lexus. I was ok with the rx but didn’t like the v4 engine spec

You might well be right about Lexus dropping the V6 for the generation 8 ES, but Lexus has had a 6 year cycle for the ES, and, if they continue to do so, the generation 8 ES won't come until the 2025 model year, not the 2024 model model year, and I would not expect to see them drop the V6 until the arrival of the generation 8 ES. (However, if the supply chain issues continue, I'm not sure whether Lexus and other manufacturers will be continuing what had been their normal schedules for introducing new generations of their cars.)

Well the Avalon may be gone but the TNGA-K platform is still around for various models. So hopefully they won’t turn the ES into some odd crossover mishmash. Wish a 4-cylinder engine no less (pretty much a given at this point).
Yep the Avalon replacement still uses a tweaked TNGA-K platform. I can't imagine the ES sitting on its OWN TNGA-K variant, that would be very expensive, so that's why I'm wondering if it'll share with a new Camry (which has to grow because of the massive Accord) or the upcoming Avalon replacement, the Crown. Time will tell!
I believe the TNGA-K is also used on the Highlander as well. I don't think the platform is going away, but things will sure be different. We'll have to wait and see what they actually do with the ES and how it's going to be built.
yeah, for the performance model there will be a hybrid max version with over 340 HP. People will soon forget about the V6 model.
I am one who won't. The V6 is a wonderful engine and doesn't need the added complexity of a turbo for smooth performance. I guess I'm just old fashioned but I've never like 4-cylinder engines, with or without turbos. Most of the modern ones perform quite well, I will concede, and the manufacturers are doing this for CAFE standards, not consumer preference, so at the end of the day it doesn't matter what most of us want or prefer anyway.
Many cars may or may not use TNGA-K but for purposes of this discussion and for comparison I am referring to the biw specific to the Avalon and its replacement, the Crown, which replaces the Avalon and uses a tweaked version of the older platform and how a new ES might relate. that's all.
No one said tnga is going away. they are just getting started. ive been following the program since around 2014 or so when the prius was in development. good thing with the crown the program overall is getting an update. but don't know too many specifics yet.

maybe he meant more it's not that people hate big(ger) engines, it's that V6s arent particularly memorable generally speaking. when's the last time a you saw a kid with a poster of a V6 engine on his wall. lol
