I'm almost sick about it, but I gave my new 2022 ES350 UL its first (and I hope, last) case of curb rash on the left rear wheel. All in all it could have been worse, but I pains me as the car is still so new. Has anyone had any experience with repairing the wheels on the UL variant, and whether or not they can be successfully polished to remove curb rash? I've read in here that some of the LS wheels simply can't be repaired in such cases. The Mercedes dealer for my last car (the E350 I got rid of) offered this service and I saw that the repairs looked pretty nice.

So - any experiences or ideas to share on this for the UL wheels? Did you use the dealer, or speciality shops? Anything in particular I should look for? Thanks for any info!

Just contact a bunch of local wheel repair shops and see if it can be done. If it's just curb rash then it could be sanded down and fixed. Now if it were to have been cracked, that's a different story.

I had a similar issue with a wheel. The wheel expert came to my house and sanded the metal smooth, very smooth, primered it, applied color to match, then a clear coat. He must have had 25 different shades of silver and gray and used an air brush to apply it. It turned out beautiful and he charged me $40.00... So repairs can be done and end up with a happy ending. Ask around when you're at the dealer and sometimes they'll give you their contact. Sometimes they won't... However these guys are available. I know exactly how you feel and I wish you GOOD LUCK!!!

The wheels are painted so shouldn't be an issue. The issue is when a wheel is chromed or powder coated where it is more difficult to repair.

I created a tutorial in 2016 on how to repair similar-colored F Sport wheels for the IS forum back in the day. Check it out. Of course the best way is take it to a shop but if you want a quick fix that looks reasonable for $15, you may be interestd.

I used a black permanent marker on a little scratch. So far so good.

As mentioned, it wouldn't hurt to ask the dealership who they use for wheel repairs for their pre-owned cars as well as new cars that might have some minor damage. It's doubtful they do it themselves.

I had the same situation happen on my 2019 Lux. The wheels are the same noise reduction wheels as on my 22 UL. I contacted the service dept. at my local dealer. They had a person that came twice a week for appts. for repairs and so on. I can’t remember the range they mentioned but I vaguely recall $50 - $250, maybe higher. I’m sure they came for more than just wheel repair, but considering the frequency of their appts. the dealership obviously approved. I’d start there and as dezymond mentioned, contact local shops.

** I sold the car a week later to Carmax so I didn’t end up using the service. I only originally inquired in case I needed the repair done for a higher payout. Turns out, it didn’t impact my offer so no need to spend that money.

Any tire shop can send the rim out. It cost me $150 on my other car (buick) but the rim was really mangled, with chunks missing. Rim looks brand new, can't tell it was fixed.

They can paint the whole wheel, but I am interested on touch up paint.

If you google IS350 F Sport wheel (split 5 spoke design) and google ES350 F Sport wheel, the color looks similar. So if not a perfect match, my tutorial would be close enough to get it to look decent. When I turned in my curb rashed IS F Sport back to Lexus, using my repair techniques on all four wheels, they didn't charge me a dime =)
