Default What is an interesting or unusual discovery you’ve made from having an ES?

It can be tangible or intangible. I’ll start.

1. While not so out of the ordinary, I never realized how dependent on the Panoramic View monitor I’d become until I had to drive another vehicle that didn’t have it. I was surprised at my slight anxiety when going into situations where tight maneuvering was necessary. I kept second-guessing my distances.

2. After signing up for the app, I was pleasantly surprised the first time I forgot to roll my windows up and left a door unlocked. I had no idea I would be alerted about that kind of thing. I was relieved because I could be forgetful.

2. I was surprised at how much my car reminded me of the Predator.

Nothing unusual for me after nearly four years and 53k miles. It's a great car with a somewhat annoying tranny.

I couldn't have said it any better Mike...

On occasion I've had instances where there is some hesitation that will occur within the first 30 seconds or so after I start out driving. This occured in my 2019 more frequently and I honestly thought it had more to do with the fuel pump which I thought might have been one of the reasons for the recall. I was wrong. It still occurs in my 22 but less frequently. Is this what you mean?
I mentioned this to a Lexus service rep. multiple times and the one answer I received was that it's a highly sophisticated transmission and it's constantly trying to determine what the best gear to be in is. They went on to tell me to help avoid this was to keep it constantly in sport mode. I just looked at them and said nothing else! I will say that when I have tried driving in sport mode only, the general hesitation I felt was not there. But I'm not about to constantly drive in sport mode.

The only thing unusual I found, and it drives me mad, is how cheap the sun visors are made. I'm on the second set and they've developed the same rattle within the visor itself that I wouldn't be able to fix without taking it apart. Close those visors extremely gently if you use them often.

Otherwise, nothing wrong with the car except for a few missing gripes (which I'm sure are available on upper trims).

I think one interesting thing I have found the past 4 months of ownership and 6k miles is how a hybrid is compared to a car with a transmission. Even with driving other newer cars with the most advanced dual clutch transmissions or how ever many gears, I feel every little shift now. It's not a bad thing, but it's the smoothness of the 300h that leads me to my next point.

The most interesting thing I've discovered since owning my 300h is how much more patient I am on the road now. My commute can be crazy and I always practiced not letting little stupid stuff (e.g., getting cut off, lots of traffic, etc.) bug me, but it's actually become even more enjoyable. My old ride was a 2015 TLX and it was a great vehicle, but my ES just takes it up another level in terms of isolation and a relaxing ride. Never really stressed about traffic much, but now I don't get annoyed if I have to take an alternate route through city streets, especially when I'm averaging 44MPG!

Surprised by the butter smooth transmission, regardless of driving mode.

Surprised by the absolutely pathetic city mpg.

Surprised Lexus would continue to use easily scratchable dash material

Not surprised I would miss the 360 view monitor

Surprised the base audio is not nearly as bad as I was led to believe

No other surprises. Love the car.

Oops. One other unpleasant surprise: the unreliability of the navigation

After driving the RAV4 hybrid, I discovered that the hybrid battery charges very slowly and the energy management is inferior compared to RAV4.

This thread resembles a previous one which was "what complaints do you have" rather than "unusual discoveries"...

I only drive in SPORT mode so it has nothing to do with that. I'm referring to the annoying downshift to 1st gear as you slow down for a stop sign. I've learned to deal with it after all this time and most of my miles are pure highway every day anyway.

that can likely be said for most native nav systems. Just use WAZE.

"On occasion I've had instances where there is some hesitation that will occur within the first 30 seconds or so after I start out driving."

Me, too, on my 2021 350 ES. Unresolved minor annoyance I simply attribute to engine not yet warmed up and shrug off. Just hope it's nothing that turns into a serious problem post-warranty.
Otherwise: Love the automatic seat and steering wheel set and unset when I start and stop the motor. Real luxury!
Hate having to live with an exposed, unsightly cable in my phone when using CarPlay.

This is my favorite car that I have owned.

Things I have discovered and love:
300h mileage (had ES 350 prior)
Triple beam headlights with cornering lights.
360 camera
Seat cushion extension
Huge center screen
Pwr trunk lid, that I can close from inside the car
Exterior door handle lights

How do you close trunk from inside the car?
