Default 2025 Lexus ES EV

Carmaker1 has found a glimpse of the forthcoming 2025 Lexus ES EV.
Looks similar to current 7ES with the old Avalon's six-sided window design, which is appropriate for such a big sedan.
Hopefully it has a large enough battery pack with sufficient range unlike UX300e, Toyota bZ and RZ450e.

Have you heard anything about a gasoline option for the ES?

reminds me of an elantra...

i was telling my friend the other day Toyota is way way way behind on EV tech. non-optimized platforms, highly inefficient powertrains, poor battery tech/low mileage/slow charging. the list goes on...

Other than Tesla.. hyundai and rivian are the standouts who can make a decent EV system. the rest are straining to get 120 miles range and even if they can, they charge incredibly slow or have a lot of reliability issues.

I wouldn't worry Jack. ICE Lexus (and other) cars will be around for a long time... Most people can't afford an electric by Lexus or any other manufacturer.
Bunch of BS in my opinion... Look at Tesla. Half the time they're recalling their cars if they don't get destroyed by fire. And Tesla is laying off workers because their stock is in the toilet.
Might even go out of business...

Thanks. Didn’t think they would get rid of ICE ES vehicles yet. Just wanted to make sure. Yeah, Tesla is trash… and their cars are ugly on top of that.

Tesla is absolutely cratering right now. Stock is down big time, layoffs coming soon, used values plummeted more than other automakers. Their magical 4680 new battery turned out to be a big nothing-burger. They have just announced $7,500 off their cars and 10,000 miles of free supercharging until the end of the month to move the cars. The wait to get a new car used to be a year plus, now it's days. They are doing more layoffs shortly once they use their current employees to try and clear stock.

Tesla is old tech now and it's a political statement to drive one.

I looked up my closest two Tesla dealership inventory, one has 16 cars, the other has 40. Any other quarter there would be no inventory or like 1-2 cars. They struggle to sell cars here for sure.

This tells me Toyota / Lexus is correct with their EV strategy, slow and steady when the time is right.

I would like to see the next ES be PHEV AWD with heated rear seats. I may go for BEV if it was offered, maybe. I already owned two Teslas and have a RAV4 Prime and around here the PHEV is the big brain choice but BEV is do-able if you are not in a hurry to road trip, and don't mind battery degradation in the long term.

Lexus can't even render an image of their fake EV properly never mind actually build one.

Please explain what PHEV and BEV mean. Thanks...

PHEV is Plug In Hybrid. BEV?? I think that's just what we call EV. No ICE engine at all.

Not sure where the "Tesla is old tech" thing is coming from. that's absolutely and objectively and categorically false. Their EVs are generations ahead of the entire industry. Galaxies ahead. Learn to separate politics/CEO/Twitter/Anecdotal stories of cars catching on fires or panel gaps topics from the actual engineering of what makes an EV an EV. They're doing things no other manufacturer can dream of doing. I can do a 20 page presentation on this on extremely nuanced details. but for purposes of this thread i'm keeping it extremely high level birds eye view. The fact that Tesla is far far FAR FAR ahead in EV engineering/tech is objective fact and absolutely cannot be disputed. Yes they have logistical and assembly/QA issues to resolve, but that's a separate topic than EV tech.

And no your 2012 tesla doesn't count. i'm talking their current tech which is improved continuously and massively on an exponential scale on a 60-90 day rolling basis, at times.

Tesla would not be brought up over and over again in a Lexus thread if Lexus had an EV worth talking about. End of story.

Not sure this could be any more divorced from reality. Go look at Tesla's YoY growth, margins, and basically every other metric then tell us when "the time is right".

Well I can say that I like Elon Musk and respect his achievements. But I wouldn't consider buying a Tesla... ...And apparently a lot of others agree...

Guy yesterday buys a brand new Model Y. It dies on him an hour later - https://www.reddit.com/r/TeslaLounge...on_1_hr_after/ - remind me how quality is top notch today? Only the fanboys believe that BS. Whether it's 2012 or today, you still roll the dice with Tesla quality.
