If you have the ability to secure the vehicle (while it's not locked) like in a garage, try not locking it.
I never leave my car unlocked so locking it is not an issue.

he was suggesting locking it was causing battery drain.

Very easy to tell by putting an ammeter in series with negative lead of battery and check both ways for drain. Hopefully the receiver is waiting for a wake up signal and not constantly transmitting. The DCM is the big problem of battery drain and there have been numerous updates to address that for my 2020. I just had last one done 2 weeks ago and been 7 updates since I had it done 2 years ago. When I get a chance I am going to check the drain to see if any difference.

Just a guess.
While there is a smidgen of factual truth to the rumor in that the smart entry system will continually "look"/monitor for a key fob authorized entry, the real facts are that depending upon circumstances criteria, there are 10 minute, 5 day, and 14 day battery saving timing gates on the smart key system. (See the "Battery-saving function" section on page 101 of the 2019 ES 350 Owner's Manual [pdf version] [page number varies with model year].) As the time intervals get longer the smart entry system's monitoring function consumes less and less power. After 14 days only the driver's door smart entry system's and key fob remote radio signal monitoring "wake up" circuits are active and consuming power - everything else is either powered off or in minuscule power consuming, deep sleep state. (Without knowing the detailed specs of the circuitry you can't put a number on the power consumption but "wake up" circuitry with nano ampere current draw isn't unusual.)

As an anecdote on the impact of a locked, garaged ES on the battery's charge level, during the initial period of COVID-2 California lock down my 2019 ES 350 was locked and parked in my garage for extended time periods one of which was 3 months or so. After 3 months, battery charge level was such that the car started up with no noticeable difference from if it has just been turned off a few minutes ago.

Dead cell again, and even though the car is no longer under the manufacturers warranty (ended Oct '22) the battery was covered under its two year warranty.

Yes, I'm in Florida, but the car is garaged during daytime hours. Two years is not a very long life for a "premium battery."

Have you had the ECM update? There was a known software issue with the ECM causing it to drain the battery while the vehicle is off.

I didn't know that, and will check further. Thank you.

The ECM problem should not cause a cell to die.

My 2019 ES F Sport has been with me since March 2019 (2 more months to be 4 year-old), 61K miles now, I park it outside 90% of the time, in Atlanta GA, so it gets very hot in summer (4 months, I'd say 90 degree on average, there will be weeks where it will be 100-105 consistently, feel like 115, Jesus) and considerably (LOL) cold in winter (4 months, may hit 0 or negative few times with some snow LOL, but I'd say 30 - 50 most of the time).

My A/C never been switched off, always on auto. I plug my phone in 80% of the time for Apple Car Play.

I never have had any issue starting the car, or any battery issue, yet. Hope this helps....

Our cars (yours and mine) are on the road often and that for sure extends battery life.

On the forum for the ES battery drain, the problem seems to be prominent in 2020 models. I read through quite a few of them, and no one mentioned a 2019. I'll check with my servicelady.

Mine still has original battery and car lives outside. no problem so far (knock on wood). I will probably change it sometimes summer. For those that changed to non-oem one. Which one did you put in? If you like it, please share the link to website.

And all cars are always locked whether in the garage or not.
My current Lexus GS350 battery was purchased at the dealer in September 2016. I'd be very upset with Lexus if my OEM battery lost a cell after 2 years.
I live in Texas and have had OEM batteries on new cars fail at around 3 years. Rare for me or wife to get over 4 on a battery.

Still blows my mind that in this current year we still have to wait for our car battery to die before we know it’s even low. C’mon car makers, help us out here!
