Also for 8ES i want a better quality suspension. we have very poor stamped stuff. low cost. camry/es/avalon/rav4 etc. low end stuff.

Since the GS is officially axed, I wouldn't be surprised if they make the ES a true 5 Series / E Class competitor. If the 8th Gen gets air suspension, massage driver's seat, and AWD on the highest engine configuration, it would be perfect. But I personally find the suspension to be perfectly adequate on mine. Not perfect, but perfectly acceptable for a $50k car. Now, if I was in a Rolls Royce, sure. But I really only feel bumps on bumpy roads. Otherwise, it's smooth as butter.

ES is too close (identical nearly) to the Camry & Avalon. Hopefully for 8ES, they do more to separate it.
In terms of differences... well the 2019 Hybrids use the old/low economy ni-mh battery vs. the 2020+ li-ion right. so that right there would be my cutoff. i wouldn't get a 2019 also with the build/rattles you're like to get with the early years too. i always get the sense it took lexus 3 years to get the build decent on this chassis just based on what i've seen around on the forums and videos on the rav4 etc. I think TCCN said the Rav4 in 2019 had so many issues, 2020 fixed some, 2021 fix most, and 2022 fixed all. I imagine that same trend follows the ES which it's largely similar to.

Same experience with my wife’s 2016 RX. First model year. Got the 2021 and it seemed more refined and a much better driving experience.
Had the chance to drive the 2023 ES hybrid in Fsport yesterday and felt the same way compared to my 2019.
The car seemed more solid and personally I felt like it drove much better with less noise.
Was told an Ultra hybrid is coming soon in the next few days. I might just bite on it.
Was offered $33000 for my 2019 ES Ultra hybrid with 36000 miles.
Also looked at the 2023 RX 350h. Very nice upgrades. But nothing available for a while as there is a long waiting list.

I am absolutely fine with the suspension, maybe if it a bit softer it would be excellent.
I want better materials and no squeeks and rattles.

I'm surprised at the complaints about rattles and squeaks in MY 2019 ES cars. My 2013 - the first year of the gen 6 Lexus - was as tight and solid a car as I ever owned. The engine strong and quiet. No marking on the dash, and wipers with a summer/winter setting... Made in Japan. I bought the 2019 for the addition of numerous safety features as getting older I think one's abilities decline somewhat. I find that the 2019 built in America is as tight, solid, quiet, rattle free, as a car can be. Are there deficiencies? Yes... However for a vehicle costing $50k I think that the buyer gets their money's worth and that the car is dependable and high quality. My 2019 has no rattles, no squeaks, no pano roof issues, and looks like an expensive ride IMO.
Where this car emanates from I couldn't give a rat's a$$. I would buy another in a minute...

But otherwise, this car 100% meets my expectations for a midsized $50k luxury car. Seems like people are expecting LS quality for half the price lol

Are there differences? yes. differences i won't even explain to you because i worked hard to find them. differences you couldn't even (and won't even) describe and can ever describe unless you knew specifically what to look for. So don't assume when I post stuff like this i do it lightly.
I even know a secret about the ES that no one's ever mentioned and i won't! there's one model year that has a very specific engineering change that's very interesting. that's how closely i looked at this stuff!
Oh c'mon now. You can tell us and we won't tell anyone else...

I don’t think there is a difference between a brand new 2019 ES and a brand new 2023 ES, but there is a difference between a four year old ES and a brand new one.
