I searched and can’t find a thread here, interested in swapping my matte black open pore trim for hadori or one of the gloss wood trims. Also the steering wheel.

I have removed my wood trim on the doors and dash, it's relatively easy. I have seen aftermarket pieces/kits on Aliexpress.

Could you vinyl wrap the existing pieces? That might be easier.

Cool and thanks. Do you also have the ambient light strips next to the wood trim and was that easy to not damage?

I have a whole thread with photos here - https://www.clublexus.com/forums/es-...p-project.html - but basically yes the thin ambient light strips are wedged in beside the wood trim.

I would love to replace all my matte black wood trim with the glossy woodgrain pieces, but only if it's real wood. Hearing that it's easy really perks up my ears -- I was expecting to hear that entire door card or dash panels would need replacement.

Nope. 3 screws to remove the door panel, and a handful of screws to remove the wood trim. Takes about 30 minutes per door and a child could do it.

The hadori trim is one reason I love the FSport model. I hate wood in cars.

The more wood inside a car, the more luxury. The ES doesn't have enough wood IMHO.

Provided it's well done. I think the LS 430 interior can't be beat.

Regarding the steering wheel.... I swapped mine out for a carbon fiber one last year. Love it!

I agree...sadly, though, a lot of the modern "open pore wood" looks like garbage. The black "wood" (of whatever it is) in the ES looks like something you'd find at IKEA. I get that tastes change and the auto makers love to jump on the collective band wagon, but the ES black open pore on everything but the palamino trim is dreadful. The option to have trim like the previous version would be nice for this eof us who like it.

Out of curiousity, I did look online briefly for wood trim kits for the ES and didn't find much at all. Are there any decent sites out there?

Try Aliexpress.com I have seen some variety of ES wood trim replacement, most have LED strips in them it seems, but not all.

I used to own this, this is proper wood.

I had an XJ8 and loved it. Also got to know some mechanics by name, thank god for extended warranties. My engine evenncaught on fire once!
