Default What is a fair price for 2023 ES 350 UL?

I am searching for a 2023 ES 350 (UL edition) in the SF Bay Area. So far, two dealerships I talked to are not willing to budge or negotiate. One dealer asked for MSRP + $1500 dealer installed junks like nitro-filled tire etc. The other asked for MSRP. Is it the current state of the market right now or can I do better?

(I thought prices will come down since the interest rate on new car loans are in > 5% territory and the car shortage is easing up).

Maybe it is better to wait a couple of months.

I don’t know about V6 but I paid sticker in December for a 23 ESh and am now looking for a hybrid for the wife and there’s almost zero inventory and months wait for a hybrid NX/RX.

I was lucky ish to buy my ESh at only MSRP withoit additional dealer add ons. One dealership here adds over 2 grand in PPF/tint/interior protextion to every car although they do sell at MSRP.

I was looking at $70,000 MSRP Corvette and Dealer was asking for $95,000. The salesperson explained that if I was selling the car immediately undriven I would get way more than MSRP. So the markup is equity in the car I buy. I am still very upset with the markups but it makes some sense.

Did you try Lexus in Oakland? I got my car from there and was completely happy with how everything turned out.

If you want a referral, PM.

No. I contacted Lexus of Fremont and Stevens Creek. Somehow Oakland completely slipped out of my mind. PM sent.

I had a similar experience buying my wife's 23 ESh in Nov/Dec - got it for MSRP and because we were able to reserve it during build, we could request them to not add on any of the dealer installed stuff. That being said, my dealer was only adding on tint and some ppf (which in hindsight I should have done) - around $900. The tint was probably $100 overpriced and the PPF similar, so not actually too bad. Fortunately the port installed options (i.e. distributor installed) were minimal and mostly useful ($400 for trunk mat, wheel locks, cargo net, key gloves).

We had actually started out trying to get a Camry hybrid instead. The dealers in our area were adding on 3K for ceramic paint coating, tint, interior protection. A salesperson actually told me that customer loved it and wanted that. That is on top addition to $2k of distributor installed options (gulf states toyota has really gotten bad/greedy) - that maybe $500 or so were actually useful. We saw some Toyota dealers also adding a $1800 MSRP adder for hybrids.

Anyway, my wife had one feature that she wanted - ventilated seats that only came on 1 package that was really hard to find. Anyway, with all of that added on and no idea when we would get a car, the ESh ended up being only about 4K or so more than the fully decked out Camry hybrid - and we were able to get it in about 3 weeks.
