New Tire Noise?
I just got Yokohama Avid TRZs put on my 02 ES300, decent tire at decent price. After I got it installed I noticed when I am on highway going 50mph~ Road noise is pretty annoying but quite on local driving. Tire's rating/review was really good on this tire at tirerack, TREADWEAR and ROADNOISE/COMFORT was my main concern and that's why I picked out this tire. Now I don't feel any vibration or pulling so I think balancing was done correctly(I could be wrong). Any ideas??

Well, I can tell you that on the whole, Yokohama's are a lousy passenger car tire. I purchase Toyota's from a dealership that replaces all cars for sale with new Yoko's. I have been through 2 Camry's that had Yoko's, and they were horrible in the snow. I do not like Yoko's at all. However, the Geolander's made for trucks and SUV's by Yoko are really good. They are on my buddies 4Runner.
I noticed you live in Illinois. Lot's of snow out there, yes? If I were you, Yoko's would not have even been considered. Your only saving grace is VSC and traction control. I would have looked into Micheline's or Bridgestone.
Incidentally, on my 01 ES300 I bought, had a lower end non "z" rated set of Bridgestone's. I imagine the first owner tried to cheap out, because these tires are $80 a piece. The problem I have now is that the previous owner DID NOT rotate the tires at all, and now the two rear tires are cupped, causing a loud rumbling noise at higher speeds. At lower speeds it's not evident, but I was told that as the mileage increases, so will the noise. These tires are great in the snow, but I will wait until spring and get the right tires put on that were meant for the car. Since the current set of Bridgestone's still have a good amount of tread on them, I will rotate them with the new tires between spring and summer.
My advice? Return them and get something else. Stay away from Yoko's.

thanks for your reply, well other than road noise i've been very very pleased with my purchase, and it's been pretty good in snow too. i was debating on which yoko's to go with and bought this one over other because of it's snow/ice rating/review. wonder if alignment has anything to do with noise....

I have TRZ's on our 98' Camry. They are good in the snow and handle quite well, but they are very loud about 50mph and up, I'll second that one. The MXV4's are nice if money isn't an issue.
