just got an '97 es300
i love the car a lot. no body expects the comfort or quickness from it when they ride with me, which is funny because Ive been raised around Lexus' so Ive never expected anything other than comfort and quickness.
but after the first month, some dumb kid in a hearse hit me on the way out of my school parking lot. i couldn't move because the line was stopped. he started his car, and just backed right into. it was ridiculous. the cheapest price i got on a replaced bumper with paint was like $1014. hes paying for it so its not a huge deal to me, that price is just like massive to me lol. heres the not so intense damage.

This is in reply to your bumper issue:
The 01 ES300 I just bought was an insurance salvage - the salvaged it because the bumper and very front of both front fender got damaged in a rear end! I checked, and the original AC condensor and radiator is still in it, so it didn't get THAT damaged! Got it for $6100, inside is in perfect condition except for a broken clip on the rear of the driver's side window master panel! 93k miles! Guy I bought it from had the front repaired, and whole car repainted, so everything matches.

nice!
my dad works for a dealership
and we found this 97 for $3000
traded in by some old lady.
she kept sheep skin on it the whole time so the interior is great!
we had to do like 700 bucks worth of tune up to get rid of oil leaks
but in the end it was still a great deal,
right now the only problem is squeaky suspension and my back light for the stereo is out, which looks to be quite common in this car.
I'd like to get the silver lables or accents or whatever they're called, because im just not a fan of the gold ones.
heres some pics.

welcome.
my cars have always seemed to find ways of getting hit in school parking lots, which blows
people never expect much out of the ES but always seem to get suprised when riding in mine.

the worst part was that there was no avoiding it. i was sitting there a line in front of me line behind and he just kept back horn nor hand wave saved me =[ i just watched him back into me and he was like is your car ok? and i just ignored him, pulled the the side (late for work) and said gimme your information. whatever its a fun car. my only complain so far is the p/o drilled holes in the dash for sirius radio. so it either looks very clunky or has holes in it. either way its frustrating =/ cause the quality (fm transmitter) is crap.

i dont think its because its an fm transmitter, i just hate how like when its cloudy the music sound like its going slower and junk. i have an ipod fm transmitter and that works great. i think satellite just isnt my thing. if she had installed it into the glovebox, maybe id be a little more open minded lol

My rear suspension squeaks sometimes also - I'm gonna squirt some oil in the area where the top and bottom of the springs rest - seems like that is where it is coming from.
