custom REAL cold air intake w. pix
so i began to install my talking car alarm, then started to open the fender and did this in the process. The intake piping was from a civic, so a lil cutting was involved here and there. So here it is, finally. NOTE: will have to make another spare short intake tubing for them rainy days.
materials used - honda civic cai, al piping, a few pop cans, a pen, and rubber hose, and u got urself and cold air intake
extension al pipe from home depot
maf sensor under fuse box
piping thru behind fender(outside look)
piping thru behind fender(inside look)
intake filter by the left hand fog light

OP - maybe look into replacing those "metal can" segments with black silicone, or something like that - the way it is now, it may be effective, but it looks pretty ghetto.

$12 for civic intake off ebay
$4-6 for al piping
$2 for pop cans
as for the codes, i got go to autozone and check again
as for the bypass valve part, i just happen to have another maf sensor laying around so i can make a short ram and replace how i had it b4. 2nd thought was to design a funnel system to prevent water from goin inside the pipe, which would mean id have to stick the intake by the engine, just an idea tho
previous setups, if u think that was ghetto, u'll get definitely get a kick out this

^^ Whoa, whoa.
Don't get all defensive there chump. I said it looks like **** due to the cans, but i like the concept more than the final execution.
Anyways...
So, again, it does throw codes, right?? I *need* to know this, since i just lucked out and won an auction on eBay for an 18$ civic intake with filter & all... lol

as for codes i got 171 for running lean which i think there is a leak, could be my dirty maf sensor which im cleaning now, i also got 325+330 which r knock sensors which i changed recently, now might be faulty wire

Sometimes those things happen with the MAF. I don't get codes with the current intake I made on my RX, but I plan to do another ram air intake within the next month or so once I get materials. It's going to be an intake that will indirectly feed cold rammed air to the intake chamber/MAF as opposed to directly doing it and causing a lean error on the MAF...stay tuned.
