Question a better place to ask a serious question?

Is there a better thread to ask an expert a question? seems no one wants to help me with an answer unless I'm tricking out my ride. I guess us old guys will just sit here in our rocking chairs until some one answers.
My 2000 es300 is throwing code p1354 but also codes p0300, p0302, p0304, p0306. If I'm right, that means that the VVT sensor for that side of the engine is the trouble. parts store says LH or RH choices. OK so which is it on this engine, front or back side?

Also, I've read a lot of posts that says these parts can be cleaned and reused, is that the case with this sensor?
Thanks for any help

What has your mechanic said?

It's not that no one wants to help, its great that sometimes these internet-mechanic-newbs don't post since they can mislead you.

Certain things i know from having worked on this car, but others i've yet to encounter.

I've not run across that particular problem. Now if you want to talk about P0446....

I have a '97 ES which does not have VVT. However, in almost every situation my Haynes manual has been indispensable. Best $20 I've spent on that car. I'm sure the answer is in there if you get the correct manual for your model year.

Good luck.

Thanks for the replys guys. I do my own mechanic work and have for years. Now days , with these cars and the computers that run them, you gotta be a rocket scientist to work on them. Anyway, I'm too bull headed to back down from a challenge so I'll keep trying till I get it fixed. It's only time and money....LOL!
I will look into getting a hayes manual for my car...come to think of it, I don't know why I haven't already. I've had one for almost every car i ever owned.

you will need to change that vvt sensor on bank 2 to solve that problem. Bank 2 is the one towards the radiator of the car. it's a common problem on the toyotas and lexus.

Not sure if this is what you were asking, but here goes. You have to look at the engine from where the pulleys are (passenger side), that is considered the front. Then the left would be near the cowl and the right is near the radiator.

Thanks for the replys guys. I bought a repair manual...duh...should have gotten that first. according to that and what I have read on a few forums, the part that needs repair/ replacing is the Oil Control Valve on bank 2(front side of engine). I guess they are bad about the filter clogging or the elec coil going bad. anyway I will do a little work on that and see if I can't get this little jewel back on the road. I will report my progress and maybe the info can help someone else.

Ok.... a little update.
did a check of the cam adjust selenoid on bank 2. repair manual said ohm res of the coil should read no higher than 7.9 and it did read that, however when the engine warmed up, it read 10.0+ which was way out of tolerance. ordered a new one and it will be changed out. hopefully this is the culprit and will be running smooth soon.
Hope this helps someone.

well, this should be the last update on this thread.
I got the new part in...btw, the part is called a cam adjust selenoid by the dealer and I ordered it online at US autoparts for about $66 w/ free shiping...quick install and my little ES300 is purring like a kitten.
Hope this info helps someone down the line. Until then, happy motoring.
