Difference Between Intakes
Hi guys,
I have a question about the secret weapon intake and the dragon intake, what is the difference between the 2?
If anybodys knows that would be great!

Price, neither really do anything by make more noise, in general I've seen more people with the secret weapon intake on these forums. Make sure to get a heat shield if you instal one if not your just sucking in hot air from the engine.

This. I'd do a Cold air extension, and Thermo Wrap the intake to prevent heat soak. Its not overkill when you see what your intake air temps are with just a short ram in the middle of the summer.

The stock intake is better than anything aftermarket, easily. The only purpose of those intakes is to look "cool" and make more noise. You will probably get less power out of them versus stock anyway, the stock setup is an efficient and quiet cold air intake system.

I disagree and here's why: I designed an intake specifically for the 99-01 ES and 2000-04 Avalon (Twin Throttle setups) and not only was i able to gain power, i picked up speed and cut down on run in the 1/4 mile. while this may seem "excessive" for some on this forum i know, Not every stock intake is good. The one in my SC300 is great. one resonator and air comes in right behind the passenger headlight. the one in my avalon has two resonators and air comes in by the drivers side fender.

Indeed
This is the setup i was working on to "tune" in the fuel trims. Its a 3 inch cold air extension with a 2.5 inch cheater pipe so the maf can read correctly but also gives the flow of a 3 inch intake. The POS Weapon-R Dragon intake pipe for these engines, and another piece i had custom made to remove that rediculous resonator that chokes the motor so bad you would not believe. This car runs a 15.5 1/4 mile on just the Short ram and the trick intake pipe. the Cold air extension keeps the Intake air temps down when stopped at a light. I struggled with 160-170 degree intake temps this summer without the extension. with it they're around ambient. Stock was still higher then ambient but not by much (10-20 degrees).

I agree with Bdub215 that stupid resonator really does choke the engine when its really hot outside and always makes the car up shift 1 or even 2 gears because of the design flaw. I wish the had the intake duct like on the other cars today even the newer es330 where its mounted on the radiator support & takes the air from the front grille!

ricer alert!!!!!!!!
since there arent't anything to beniefit for gas mileage other than sound of the engine, why spend $200 that isn't completely functional? IMO you're better off in a different platform.

You are right. I sold my Avalon and bought a SC300. However gas mileage is unaffected if not improved. I was able to do 350-400 miles with a 1/4 tank to spare.
