2007 Startup *FAIL*
My mother's 2007 is now in the shop for a 3rd time (after a 1 month stay earlier this year) for failure to start up. Batteries were replaced last time and the fix was not effective. She's now been stranded by this thing more than one time. Will probably look into lemon law procedures if there is any pushback from Lexus. Anyone seen/heard of other cases of this?

Good luck in getting your mother's problem resolved.

That's too bad, I have not heard this problem before with ES. You probably need to talk someone higher up in Lexus to find out more about the dealership that is looking after this problem.

It amazes me how many Lexus dealerships have service department personnel who are either unaware of TSBs or who feign unawareness of them. Every service writer and mechanic should be required to read up on these things on a monthly basis. /rant
There's a known problem with defective start switches in some of the 2007 ES350s that causes the vehicle to not start or to stall right after starting. Take the car back to the dealer and alert them to this fact, and have them fix it.
On the off-chance it's not the start button assembly, it could be that the driver is not pushing the brake pedal far enough and holding it while pressing the start button. This could be due to driver error or to (unlikely but possible) a leak in the brake boost system causing brake assist vacuum to be lost after the car sits a few days and making the pedal very hard to push.
TSB #L-SB-0161-08, dated 11 November 2008, "Smart Key Intermittent No Crank/No Start", applicable to VINs earlier than this: JTHBJ46G#82230455

My car is turning 3 years old next month! I recall many of us here got our ES350s around the same time. 45k miles here, running great... quiet and smooth. Had rear brakes replaced twice already, and Lexus claims that it's because of my aggressive driving. Yeah right. Lexus has officially lost me as a service customer. I'll keep buying their cars, but I am taking them elsewhere for better servicing.
