Has anyone had the problem of a malfunctioning gas fill tube access door. I push the button to pop open the access door so I can fill my tank and nothing happens. The access door does not pop open. This is because the spring that makes the door open when the button is pushed has come off and dissapeared (my wife had to get an attendant to help her get the door open and the spring was lost at some point). Now it seems the only option is to take it in to Lexus for what should be a minor problem. However, without the spring and some way to attach it, which is not apparant, this seems the only option.

Sure seems like something you can repair easily and inexpensively yourself . . .Why not give it a shot and report back ?

open the trunk and on the left hand side..upper top....you will see a small plastic covering. Pop that off and inside you will see a lever that that you release and this will open door when needed. Good luck

Thanks for the update. I had the same problem years ago on my 2007 as the original post and could not remember how I got to access the fuel door.

no problem..hopefully it will help someone in the future. Eventually problem will arise if u keep vehicle for extended period of time . Discovered it on MY previous 2004 ES...still same process.

Never had this problem, but on freezing winter days I've had to ask a stranger at the gas station several times to pull the gas door open while I press the button....can't quite reach both!
